Opinions/ middle names for Rogue

Robyn578 · 28/01/2018 19:53

I have been looking for names for a little while. I want something unusual thats not going to crop up everywhere and Rogue is the only name ive really fallen in love with! I would use it for either a boy or a girl. Middle name for a boy would be John after a family member, but im worried Rogue John sounds a bit like a dodgy curry! Middle names for a girl would either be Evangeline, joan or Elizabeth. Does anyone have any opinions/suggestions/alternatives? (No Rogans or logans please!)

It would be cruel to name your child Rogue. Behave.

calzone · 28/01/2018 20:37

It’s horrific so I’m glad you are rethinking.

PinkSquash · 28/01/2018 20:37

there's different and there's just plain awful. That would be an awful name to saddle a child with

user187656748 · 28/01/2018 20:38

OP I assumed you were winding us up because its so awful but if you really love it I would suggest you pick a less cruel name and then just use rogue as a nickname (although even then everyone will assume you have a really naughty child)

What about something like Hero or Maverick?

BluthsFrozenBananas · 28/01/2018 20:39

A baby called Janet would be pretty unusual, I doubt there are many Janet’s under forty.

MsGameandWatching · 28/01/2018 20:40

I actually knew a little baby Rogue. Her mother was terrifying.

DarthArts · 28/01/2018 20:40

You could go with "Chap" if memory serves that suggestion was even less well received than Rogue if you really want to push the boat out...

Robyn578 · 28/01/2018 20:41

user1466690252 that is an utterly disgusting comment. How dare you make assumptions. I am more than perfectly aware that my child will grow up and have a life of its own, And i have most definately thought this through. I have already said im going back to the drawing board, so, If you have nothing nice to say dont say it at all.

Rogue was briefly on our list for DD (xmen thing, better for a girl too) but then we quickly realised what if she wanted to be a lawyer or something professional. I think a trady could at least make a joke of it.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 28/01/2018 20:42

Please don't call your baby Rogue.

StupidMcStupidFace · 28/01/2018 20:44

Look if you really want to call your kid Rogue (ffs) then do it. But don’t be offended when absolutely everyone you introduce your child to then immediately makes assumptions about both you and your child. They will be negative assumptions because it is a name with a negative meaning. Kind of like calling your kid Little Shit.

The only option aren’t Rogue and then Jack or Lily. There’s a whole wonderful spectrum of names between them. It’s your lovely little child. Don’t give it a reason to be fucked up.

toffee1000 · 28/01/2018 20:46

OP has actually caved in and said they’re going back to the drawing board. They can’t have thought it through that thoroughly if they honestly didn’t get all the negative connotations and references.

ladybirdsaredotty · 28/01/2018 20:47

OP, the options aren't either Janet and John (either of which would be pretty unusual, by the way) or Rogue! There are thousands of names yo choose from...

ladybirdsaredotty · 28/01/2018 20:47

*to

MammieBear · 28/01/2018 20:47

Interesting thread reading some of the comments. I agree it is a little out there and may be hard for a child to carry off, you could go with Rodriguez and have the Nn Rogue or if this is a name style you actually like pair it with a more subtle middle that way he can have options. Alternatively you might like:
Gunner
Archer
Wilder
Cole
Jesse

Girl's :
Bobbie
Winter
Bandit

Imknackeredzzz · 28/01/2018 20:48

OMG can you imagine going for a job interview with that name?! Dear god what’s wrong with some people. Your child not a dog! ... give it a chance in life for gods sake!

ColourfulOrangex · 28/01/2018 20:48

@Robyn578 if you like the name then use it, people have completely different tastes, my daughters name is not to everyone's taste but we like it and that's what matters, unless you want to call them something like Spiderman don't stress what everyone else thinks

AJPTaylor · 28/01/2018 20:49

Ronnie for a girl. Reggie for a boy.

ladybirdsaredotty · 28/01/2018 20:49

I probably wouldn't recommend Bandit, either...Confused

HappyLollipop · 28/01/2018 20:50

Can't you make Rouge the middle name that way you and your DH can still use it but give your child a first name that won't seem so strange.

Ni58 · 28/01/2018 20:51

Rogan?

TheLegendOfBeans · 28/01/2018 20:51

We love the name Hector and will likely use it for any boy we have in the future.

I know that “to hector” someone is to harangue but it’s still an actual name.

Rogue puts me in mind of mongrel puppies biting on kiddies toys.

RebelRogue · 28/01/2018 20:52

Why is it that on threads like this everyone has to bitch about how boring and unimaginative and "everyone has it" names like john are?
In a sample size of 600 ( two schools) there in only one boy named john. He's the "unique" one.
