I have been looking for names for a little while. I want something unusual thats not going to crop up everywhere and Rogue is the only name ive really fallen in love with! I would use it for either a boy or a girl. Middle name for a boy would be John after a family member, but im worried Rogue John sounds a bit like a dodgy curry! Middle names for a girl would either be Evangeline, joan or Elizabeth. Does anyone have any opinions/suggestions/alternatives? (No Rogans or logans please!)

The problem with Rogan is curry

WinteryWalk · 28/01/2018 20:53

OP, love, just No.

If you want to use Rogue then go ahead, but give the poor kid a proper formal name that they can use through life...

John Rogue, is still not great, but a bazillion times better than Rogue John which is quite frankly ridiculous.

Greensleeves · 28/01/2018 20:55

Rogue is what the French version of Harry Potter calls Snape. So I like it Grin

Middle names I think would go well with it:

Aaron
Olivier
Simeon
James
William
Henry

TheLegendOfBeans · 28/01/2018 20:55

If you must....

Maximilian Rogue?
Jedediah Rogue?
Florian Rogue?

Ps: if I saw Rogue for a girl I’d think it was a misspell of “Rouge” x

RavenWings · 28/01/2018 20:58

Rogue is awful. Spectacularly awful, what a stupid name to saddle a child with. Imagine trying to have a CV taken seriously when your name is Rogue Smith or whatever...

Thank god you're rethinking it.

ICanStandtheHeat · 28/01/2018 21:01

Just no. That is mean

Rouge Trader is the absolulte best of the suggestions so far 😂😂

Rouge FFS. Have a word with yourself. It would be cruel!

Whatevszz · 28/01/2018 21:03

OP I think you should be thankful that people are strongly critiquing the name here, so much better to find out now before baby arrives and it's too late. It really is a bad name. Sorry.

FlickingVees · 28/01/2018 21:07

Why don’t you call the little rascal Kylo Ren instead of Rogue.

Still sounds like a star wars character... still will have all the kids falling round laughing at him, (or running screaming) but gives him some more options especially if he takes up fencing or is an Emo.

StoatofDisarray · 28/01/2018 21:10

Rogue Elephant (pp)

Shadowboy · 28/01/2018 21:11

Rogue??!!! Imagine when they are older? Working as a doctor or solicitor.

I’ll be honest as a teacher I’d expect the child to be naughty with a name like that. (And get picked on)

Ha ha ha ha ha at Balonz

TimesNewRoman · 28/01/2018 21:14

Rogan is a good suggestion.

I do think it's funny though when you see some of the names on here that get "MN Approval" and are just as mad IMO.

RespoDad · 28/01/2018 21:14

Kisser

RespoDad · 28/01/2018 21:15

Rogan Josh is an excellent name.

OracleOfDelphinium · 28/01/2018 21:15

Rogue. Just no.

Year3000 · 28/01/2018 21:16

Rouge ballonz

MyPreciousWaja · 28/01/2018 21:16

Does anyone remember the thread where someone wanted to name their child Slithery? It was hilarious!

Sorry op, I'm not keen on Rogue either but love the suggestion of Roman from a poster above.

OracleOfDelphinium · 28/01/2018 21:17

Reminds me that I wanted to call one of mine Boodle. I was pregnant at the time. Evidently madly hormonal. Thank God XH talked me out of it.

DiegoMadonna · 28/01/2018 21:18

Alternatives:

Storm
Jubilee
Cyclops
Wolverine

BackforGood · 28/01/2018 21:18

Far from being nasty to people letting you know what a ridiculous idea it is - ok, 'was' now you have realised, you should be grateful that people have been honest.

Long forgotten, historic meanings for a name is a very different thing from a word that is in common use today.
Rogue is the same as calling a baby 'thug' or 'vandal'. I mean, surely you can see it is a stupid idea ?

OneOfTheGrundys · 28/01/2018 21:19

I knew a little girl called Rogue at ds’ Nursery.
Please do rethink.
Rowan? Rohan? Ronan?

FlexTimeCheekyFucker · 28/01/2018 21:22

Josh?

theconstantinoplegardener · 28/01/2018 21:22

How about calling your baby Roger or Roderick, or Rodriguez? Any of these could conceivably by known as Rogue as a nickname. And for a girl, Regina or Rowan.
