I LOVE the name Scottie for a little girl but everyone seems to think I'm mad? Is it that bad? I think it sounds V cute Halo

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Rainbowmother · 05/01/2018 23:09

Not heard of it but cute

MotherCupboard · 05/01/2018 23:10

Would you like to be called scottie? I sure as hell wouldn't.

TatianaLarina · 05/01/2018 23:12

You could just call her Scotland of course.

There must be an American girl called that somewhere....

TatianaLarina · 05/01/2018 23:13

‘Scaartland come and do your homework.’

sonlypuppyfat · 05/01/2018 23:14

More than silly

FundayMorning · 05/01/2018 23:16

I think Major No has a certain ring to it but it's a brave choice.

Scottie however, is ridiculous. I picture a baby with one of those tartan berets perched on its head at a jaunty angle. And maybe a tiny sweater from the Edinburgh Woolllen Mill.

countycouncil · 05/01/2018 23:18

I actually like it but it depends on your accent.

pinyata · 05/01/2018 23:21

There was a girl i went to school with called Scottie. She got called Scottie 2 Hotty after the wrestler.

Sorry OP please don't

Potteryprincess30 · 05/01/2018 23:22

I love it! I was seriously considering calling my daughter Scotland so I am basically your number one fan here Smile

I personally think it's adorable

Ohyesiam · 05/01/2018 23:23

I think it would be tough going for a job interview with that name.
You could always use it for a nickname when she's little.

TheScottishPlay · 05/01/2018 23:27

Scotia? Not really a name either but sounds a bit more grown up if you want to use Scottie as a childhood nn.

MollyHuaCha · 05/01/2018 23:28

Scottie as a nn. Maybe...

Scottie as a real name? Er, no.

stopbeingadramallama · 05/01/2018 23:29

Please don't.

HuskyMcClusky · 05/01/2018 23:32

Noooo.

Yes, Scottie is cute on a little girl, but so is just about anything. Billie, Lollie, Muppet.

On anyone older than 3, it’s not cute at all.

DramaAlpaca · 05/01/2018 23:34

I can't believe so many people are saying it's cute. It's not in the least bit cute, it's ridiculous.

thisismadness77 · 05/01/2018 23:35

Alba.

NurseJay · 05/01/2018 23:38

Thanks for everyone's opinions! We had originally settled for Jessica but I'm a brat and want to change it lol!

Middle name will be Katie regardless of first name

I'm Scottish and my dad's name is scott so maybe it is a bit much

Scotia nn Scotty?

HuskyMcClusky · 06/01/2018 00:26

Please don’t call your child a name you think is cute for a little girl. Because she will grow to be an adult woman.

Yes, I never ever ‘get’ this.

They’re a little girl/boy for about 3% of their lives. Confused

LovingLola · 06/01/2018 00:30

Please give some consideration to your child who will have to deal with this for the rest of her life.

Hauntedlobster · 06/01/2018 00:33

Too much suits?

Not cute, just weird.

Hauntedlobster · 06/01/2018 00:36

Wait, you’re Scottish?! Even worse! Seriously though, Scottie as a nickname is fine but it’s not a great name for a kid. Particularly in Scotland. Alba is a good suggestion, Katie as in Katie Morag. Fiona - not a real Scottish name but associated with us.

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 06/01/2018 00:39

I wouldn't, no.

Itchytights · 06/01/2018 00:42

Agree with beam me up Scottie or a dog.

Don’t do it.
