Gothy Baby Girl Names

Hi all,

Dh and I are a little bit gothy. Well, goths that grew up and got jobs and whatnot. But still really like all things dark, mystical and Victoriana.

We're expecting a little girl soon but still at the brainstorming stage for names.

So far we like:

Ophelia
Briar
Hazel
Beatrice
Cecily
Opal
Phaedra
Violet
Morgan / Morgana

Don't love anything yet.

Can you think of anything we might like? Not comedy witch-style, but would fit our taste. Middle names too please - have no family ones that we'd like to use.

DS is Vincent Zephyr.

Briar is amazing!!! Briar Vivienne is just perfect

softmachine · 02/11/2017 19:53

Another vote for Briar and/or Vivienne.

Taranta · 02/11/2017 19:54

Late to the party here but my choices would be:

Isolde / Iseult
Mariamne
Lorelei
Bronte
Evangeline
Severine
Emerentiana

EgremontRusset · 02/11/2017 19:57

Phaedra is a lovely sound, but didn’t she fall in love with her stepson when her DH was away, in the myth?

Neoflex · 02/11/2017 20:11

Coralline
Ivy
Mona
Ruby
Satine

MikeUniformMike · 02/11/2017 20:17

Morticia

FunGirlThree · 02/11/2017 20:22

Lux is such an awesome name and sounds cool paired with Vincent.

questionbasket · 02/11/2017 20:24

I agree about Lux
Also like Vada/Veda

JoanLenin · 02/11/2017 20:24

Morticia. You can't get more gothic than that.

twinjocks · 02/11/2017 20:31

What lovely names (most of) these are, OP. I have to agree with you in thinking that Vincent and Vivienne is sadly too matchy. But loving so many other suggestions. I think Raven is a gorgeous name, as are Briar, Blythe and Vesper (but that's got that V again!).

In my long-ago goth days, I used to pretend my name was Severina (or Lucretia or Marianne)!

TinklyLittleLaugh · 02/11/2017 20:33

Severina
Prudence
Delilah
Lily

HumpHumpWhale · 02/11/2017 20:35

I love Allegra Opal. I wouldn't even consider Morrigan. The goddess of war and violent death? It's so far past comedy witch territory. Loads of other lovely options there though. I also think of Esme as quite goth for some reason. Esme Opal?

3out · 02/11/2017 20:37

I always liked Xarifa. It’s rather Victoriana.

TheLegendOfBeans · 02/11/2017 20:43

Vivienne and Vincent would be adorable.

OP I am bookmarking this thread for baby #3 - there are so many amazing suggestions on here.

Now I’m away to put on my Sisters back catalogue and maybe the Damned too.

Before I go though, a story. We thought DS was going to be a girl and we’d agreed on Juliet Juliana as the given names - nn “Juju”.

Imagine my delight when I realised it’s the name of an album by Siouxsie and the Banshees 👍

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuck · 02/11/2017 20:43

Bellatrix

Moonflower12 · 02/11/2017 21:24

Cybele? The goddess who was so beautiful men castrated themselves in her honour?
Selene? Goddess of the full moon.

I do love Severina.
I also know a ‘grown up’ goth couple who have a Phaedra.

TitilatedOcelot · 02/11/2017 22:10

Loving the names, wish I could have a DD to use them.

Some more suggestions, haven’t read all the lists so some may have been mentioned already.

Magenta
Ravenna
Persephone
Claudia
Aurora
Calista
Morwenna
Sabrina
Tabitha
Tanith
Winter
Alanis / Alannah
Cassandra
Lyra

Sorry if any of these are repetitions!

Paperclipmover · 02/11/2017 22:34

I do see what you mean about the similarity between Vivienne and Vincent. I don't mind the double vi sounds but it's purely a personal opinion.

I love the name Lux. Maybe Lux Vivienne, LVG.

lizzieoak · 03/11/2017 01:19

Euphemia
Odile
Morwenna
Octavia

DontDrinkDontSmoke · 03/11/2017 01:38

Elbereth

SleepingStandingUp · 03/11/2017 01:43

Lilith? Mother of Demons.
Alice

Countduckulanose · 03/11/2017 08:25

GothAndTired · 03/11/2017 10:29
