Hi all,

Dh and I are a little bit gothy. Well, goths that grew up and got jobs and whatnot. But still really like all things dark, mystical and Victoriana.

We're expecting a little girl soon but still at the brainstorming stage for names.

So far we like:

Ophelia
Briar
Hazel
Beatrice
Cecily
Opal
Phaedra
Violet
Morgan / Morgana

Don't love anything yet.

Can you think of anything we might like? Not comedy witch-style, but would fit our taste. Middle names too please - have no family ones that we'd like to use.

DS is Vincent Zephyr.

That probably puts Hazel Allegra out too!

Hazel Vivienne is lovely though.

GothAndTired · 02/11/2017 13:02

Of course it entirely depends on your surname!

Ah fuck it. Same surname as the Oasis brothers!

Mona, Lilith, Rowena

Ooh Vivienne Violet goes great

Cavender · 02/11/2017 13:04

In that case I’d go with Hazel, it’s an awesome name and goes well with the surname.

WildRosesGrow · 02/11/2017 13:05

I like Vivienne but think it is a bit too close to Vincent and it is easiest to have different initials. From your combinations, I liked

Allegra Violet
Claudia Vivienne
Hazel Vivienne

Soubriquet · 02/11/2017 13:07

Briar Beatrice sounds nice

But I love the names Tabitha and Eve.

Eve Vivienne?
Tabitha Briar

Ignoring your amended list: nothing bad just nothing jumps out.
Viola
Briony
Narcissa
Agatha

Agatha Briar G...

Briar Vivienne for me. Allegra just makes me think of Vauxhalls (I know it is Allegro) but hey, your generation won't do that.

I do really like Phaedra but don't know why. Never taught a Briar, Vivienne or a Phaedra, or a Pearl, come to that. I have taught a Giverny many yonks ago and thought that was a fab name.

Lilith

I am a goth and I called my daughter Beatrice - she is 30 now and it was unusual then

TaylorTinker · 02/11/2017 13:25

Ive only read your OP so apologies if the following are not relevant.

Mary Shelley sprang to mind!

Hetty and Hattie for some reason, for the Victorian feel.

Merlin's lover has various names in legend from Vivien to Nimue.

In Scotland King Arthur's wife is Vanora.
