Gothy Baby Girl Names

Hi all,

Dh and I are a little bit gothy. Well, goths that grew up and got jobs and whatnot. But still really like all things dark, mystical and Victoriana.

We're expecting a little girl soon but still at the brainstorming stage for names.

So far we like:

Ophelia
Briar
Hazel
Beatrice
Cecily
Opal
Phaedra
Violet
Morgan / Morgana

Don't love anything yet.

Can you think of anything we might like? Not comedy witch-style, but would fit our taste. Middle names too please - have no family ones that we'd like to use.

DS is Vincent Zephyr.

Winter (Winnie).

LoisSangersVoice · 02/11/2017 08:25

Briar is lovely, however, I would worry that everyone would hear 'Brian' and wonder why I had named my daughter thus...

Elspeth and Lilith are my ultimate dark sounding names. I imagine they have raven hair and would like to be witches. Love them both, DH not so much Sad

Also have a look for the thread "dark and delicious names for girls" which was posted a couple of months ago - you may find some good ideas there.

Bellatrix

LadyPug · 02/11/2017 12:56

I don’t personally think Pearl is right as it’s very delicate and overtly feminine. I personally like Briar the most (stunning name and unusual!) so I vote Briar Beatrice but I also love Allegra Beatrice!

LittleWitch · 02/11/2017 12:58

Vesper

WildRosesGrow · 02/11/2017 12:59

You could spell Briar with the Cornish spelling of Bryher, if you want to avoid a mix up with Brian.

Also suggest:
Arabella
Millicent / Millie
Amethyst
Midnight
Gloria
Beatrice / Trixie
Zillah

GothAndTired · 02/11/2017 12:59

Have just realised that Vivienne Asta is out because our surname starts with a G and the initials would be VAG.

My favourites are:

Claudia Beatrice
Hazel Allegra
Vivienne Tara/Cora

Of course it entirely depends on your surname!
