We're finally down to a reasonable amount of names on our shortlist
We're not looking to add any others to the list

We've got a while to decide yet (due January) so I'm not in any rush to find 'the one' just wanted to see which was people's favourites and if there's any glaringly obvious connections or connotations from these names that I'm missing?

The names are -
April
Emily
Erin
Harriet
Lydia

Strike Emily off. Emilys are ten a penny where I live. There are two in my DD's class and I know at least another two slightly younger ones.

Watto1 · 16/09/2017 19:28

I like Harriet and Lydia best. Harriet was my choice for dad but dh vetoed it Sad. Erin and Emily are fairly popular these days. I would expect an April to be born in April, not January! But maybe that's just me!

Polly99 · 16/09/2017 19:28

Those are all nice. I like them in the following order:

Lydia
Harriet
April
Emily
Erin

MrsHathaway · 16/09/2017 19:29

Harriet and Lydia I absolutely adore.

The others are fine, but they don't make my heart sing.

Watto1 · 16/09/2017 19:29

Dd not dad! I don't think Harriet would have suited my dad...

Liadain · 16/09/2017 19:31

I've put them in order of preference.

  1. April - love this name! One of my favourites.
  1. Emily - nice name. Super popular right now tbh. As a teacher a lot of Sophies, Emilys etc tend to blend into one as I know so many.
  1. Lydia - very pretty. Not for me but a lovely name.
  1. Erin - ok. I think of it as a very American name. Wouldn't use it myself.
  1. Harriet - nope. Really dislike this one.
Mollie85 · 16/09/2017 19:31

April - lovely
Erin - lovely
Lydia - gorgeous

Emily - was v popular for about 10 years I think. I'm 36 and know roughly 16 from age 3 to my peer group Grin
Harriet - meh. I can't think of anything positive or negative to say about this name, so just... meh

Good luck and how exciting Flowers

Sallywiththegoodhurrr · 16/09/2017 19:32

I like Lydia and Erin.

My name is on your list and I hate it as I always found it 'boring' growing up

MiniAlphaBravo · 16/09/2017 19:34

Lydia
Harriet
April
Emily
Erin

Is my order. Really like both Lydia and Harriet though.

Lottey90 · 16/09/2017 19:35

Harriet! Beautiful

PsychoPumpkin · 16/09/2017 19:41

Erin

MrsBertBibby · 16/09/2017 19:43

Lydia is ghastly! Lydia Bennett!
Harriet and Erin are great.
Emily is nice but so overused.
April I dislike, but anyway makes no sense for a January girl. Conception names are icky!

Loyly · 16/09/2017 19:44

Lydia

PointlessUsername · 16/09/2017 19:44

I like Erin the best.

Spam88 · 16/09/2017 19:48

Emily ❤️

Sophronia · 16/09/2017 19:49

Harriet or Lydia

wetsnow · 16/09/2017 19:49

My dd is Lydia. Not met any others.
Definitely Lydia. :)

AccrualIntentions · 16/09/2017 19:50

Lydia and Erin are both lovely names.

NoCapes · 16/09/2017 19:52

Mrs I've no idea who Lydia Bennet is
And I didn't even realise April would be a conception name (would it?) it would be in honour of both of our Grandmothers who's birthdays are both in April

17caterpillars1mouse · 16/09/2017 19:57

I like them all but I'm order of preference...

Lydia
Harriet
Erin
April
Emily

MrsHathaway · 16/09/2017 20:05

Harriet April flows nicely (assuming not a T- surname) and combines a gorgeous first name with an elegant, meaningful middle name.

lljkk · 16/09/2017 20:07

I like Harriet best because it has the strongest sounds in it.
Also a host of nice nicknames.
Nothing wrong with the others.

Afreshstartplease · 16/09/2017 20:09

Erin

NoCapes · 16/09/2017 20:11

Mrs it's an M surname 😂
I do like Harriet April though ... I just like the idea of April as the middle name in general tbh, DD1 has a month middle name too so I quite like that connection
