We're finally down to a reasonable amount of names on our shortlist
We're not looking to add any others to the list

We've got a while to decide yet (due January) so I'm not in any rush to find 'the one' just wanted to see which was people's favourites and if there's any glaringly obvious connections or connotations from these names that I'm missing?

The names are -
April
Emily
Erin
Harriet
Lydia

Harriet
Lydia
Erin

I'm afraid the name April has sad memories for me and PLEASE no more Emilys...

Smoliver · 23/09/2017 16:49

April - not a big fan of this name, but that's just personal preference.

Emily - this is pretty but is quite popular right now.

Erin - really like this name. I think it's cute.

Harriet - not a huge fan of Harriet. I do like the nickname Hattie though.

Lydia - love this name. Would have used it myself if I didn't have a friend who has used it.

PandorasXbox · 23/09/2017 17:15

Harriet is by far the best name off your list.

Isitwinteryet · 04/10/2017 12:30

We're due our first this month and she's called Harriet! :)

Frazzled2207 · 04/10/2017 12:50

Not necessarily a bad thing but if you’re seriously considering Lydia you need to either read Pride and Prejudice or watch the bbc 90s tv
Version (with Colin Firth!!!).

That features the infamous Lydia Bennet.

starkid · 04/10/2017 13:21

I like Harriet and Erin best :)

Dustbunny1900 · 04/10/2017 15:29

I love April, never hear it (also wanted to name the baby January if he was a girl, because of his January birth. But aprils conception date as pp have said) love season/month/days of the week names

Emily -kinda ubiquitous & vanilla atm

Lydia -cute, also more unusual

Harriet-love that old kids book "Harriet the spy". It's uncommon and sounds very whipsmart

Erin- pretty, idk about there but it's super Irish over here

Love Lydia, April or Harriet!

Great choices!

Ptol · 04/10/2017 22:31

April or Lydia are my favourites. April if I had to pick one.

Bunnyears85 · 04/10/2017 22:33

I'm pregnant with DC2 and if we have a girl she'll definitely be callee Harriet. Such a wonderful name! Just love it xx

Igottastartthinkingbee · 04/10/2017 22:35

Harriet and Lydia were both top 5 contenders for me, DH vetoed.

littlem133 · 04/10/2017 22:36

I love Harriet April

segc94 · 04/10/2017 22:39

April or Harriet

minipie · 04/10/2017 22:53

Erin

AmysTiara · 04/10/2017 23:00

I knew a Lydia who was known as Clamydia . Didnt seem to upset her but it's not a name I'd saddle a baby with.

Harriet is nice and Erin is okay.

HeteronormativeHaybales · 05/10/2017 06:06

Lydia, followed by Harriet.

I agree that Emily is far too popular. I love it but we didn't even consider it for our dd because there are too many around.

Not keen on April as a first name - middle name OK.

Erin is OK but nothing special, iyswim.

DartmoorDoughnut · 23/11/2017 22:29

Harriet with the NN Hetty ❤️

AnyaMoondial · 24/11/2017 01:35

April is my favourite, whether she is born on April or not.

I like Erin too.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 24/11/2017 10:16

❤️ Harriet and April.😄

17caterpillars1mouse · 24/11/2017 12:00

April - I really like April it's a lovely name and has positive imagery. It also sounds nice
Emily - I like Emily but it has been popular for at least the last 10 years. I know so many though saying that I don't know any under 2.
Erin - Simple but pretty I like it
Harriet - love Harriet as it can be shortened to Hattie and it reminds me of Harriet the spy from my childhood. I only know 1 Harriet who is 20 months
Lydia - love it but can't use as it's a name of a close relative.

Lydia is my favourite followed by Harriet and April. Erin is my least favourite but i like them all

MammieBear · 24/11/2017 12:09

Erin is sweet and subtle.

WunWun · 24/11/2017 12:17

Erin is the only one of use.

I can't stand Harriet. Possibly because the only one I've ever known was a really precocious, rude and naughty five year old.

WunWun · 24/11/2017 12:17

I'd use, not of use.
