We're finally down to a reasonable amount of names on our shortlist
We're not looking to add any others to the list

We've got a while to decide yet (due January) so I'm not in any rush to find 'the one' just wanted to see which was people's favourites and if there's any glaringly obvious connections or connotations from these names that I'm missing?

The names are -
April
Emily
Erin
Harriet
Lydia

April and Erin are both lovely

Harriet and Emily are ok but very popular

I have an irrational dislike of the name Lydia, it reminds me of Labia

Imabanana · 16/09/2017 23:10

You have a good reason to use Apri as a middle name. It's lovely to be named after grandparents, I think second name though if not the month of birth. Emily is lovely, classic and travels well that's why it's popular, don't let that put you off.

Londoncalling68 · 16/09/2017 23:13

April is lovely but surely only for an April new born? Lydia is nice. The rest, vanilla.

Mrsknackered · 16/09/2017 23:28

Erin, definitely. April is nice but I'm not sure I love it.

I can't stand Emily and Lydia is so pretty but I honestly just hear Chlymidia every time.

One on the list is my name Wink so you have good taste.

Perfectly1mperfect · 16/09/2017 23:31

I love Lydia. Harriet is also really nice.

Susierocks · 17/09/2017 02:31

Lydia is top of my list for dc2, I love it. Lydia Bennet is the little sister in Pride and Prejudice. She is quite immature and selfish and elopes with the man Elizabeth like who turns out to be a bad guy anyway. I actually love the literary connection and find her quite a sassy character who definitely knows what she wants.

Also love Harriet. Not keen on Erin and it seems to be quite popular around here and Emily, although lovely, is a little boring.

Mum2OneTeen · 17/09/2017 02:43

I like the name EMILY

tellmyfriendsiminlove · 17/09/2017 02:50

Lydia is quite common.
If she isn't born in April she'll be forever explaining that.
Harriet is nice but becoming very overused
Emily is boring but fine.

Jooni · 17/09/2017 08:03

Erin is my favourite!

April and Lydia also lovely.

CakeRattleandRoll · 17/09/2017 09:12

Harriet nn Hattie.
I also like Lydia.

ZuzuMyLittleGingersnap · 17/09/2017 17:54

Erin is beautiful.

I love the origin, too: who wouldn't want to be named after an Irish Goddess? Smile

DiegoMadonna · 17/09/2017 18:14

Lydia is cool!
Erin is cool!
Emily is a little common but that's because it's very nice.

Don't like the other two.

daisypond · 17/09/2017 18:15

Lydia is my favourite, though Lydia Bennet does put me off it.
Emily is boring. Erin is OK. Harriet is dreary. April is nice and not common, but I might assume a birthday in April. Avril might be nice, with the same meaning.

CPtart · 17/09/2017 18:24

Erin.

HappyLollipop · 17/09/2017 18:26

Erin and April are lovely

wizzler · 17/09/2017 18:30

Harriet Erin.

Onetedisbackinbed · 17/09/2017 22:02

Harriet. Lovely name

juneau · 17/09/2017 22:06

April - weird if not born in April
Emily - love this name, but too popular atm
Erin - would assume Irish heritage (do you have?)
Harriet - lovely, not too popular (I only know one)
Lydia - reminds me of the dance teacher in Fame (showing my age ...), but nice and unusual

Fluffysparks · 17/09/2017 22:30

I think Emily's lovely Smile I get all the comments about it being overused but perhaps by the time your DD is born it will be so overused no one uses it iyswim

wetsnow · 23/09/2017 13:26

Actually Lydia isn't common. It was only 100th on the 2016 name list. Definitely not common.

MikeUniformMike · 23/09/2017 13:31

They are all ok but Emily is too popular - especially for women around 20 yrs old. Lydia is nice but Lyds is vile.
I'd keep looking.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 23/09/2017 13:37

I absolutely detest Lydia (sorry, as you can probably tell, it provokes quite a strong reaction!) Partly because it's such an ugly sound & partly because I've never met a nice Lydia - all 4 I've known have been horrid people which does cloud ones judgement a bit I suppose!

All of your other names are nice though Grin. I would choose Erin or Emily.

early30smum · 23/09/2017 15:11

Lydia would be my pick from those 5.

timeisnotaline · 23/09/2017 15:15

I couldn't get beyond Lydia Bennett. I'm sorry op but she is a very selfish shallow and vain character!

slinkymolinki · 23/09/2017 15:18

Harriet and Lydia are my favourites.
Good luck with the baby xx
