Jem - I suppose it's short or Jeremy. (To Kill A Mockingbird)
Ralph - (Lord of the Flies) Or Simon - same book.
Jim - (Treasure Island)

chocolateavocado99 · 16/09/2017 15:43

Interesting, they have no Turkish heritage to my knowledge.

He is a lovely child.

Schvitzing · 16/09/2017 16:37

I've met an Aravis and a Corin. Questionable messages in the horse and his boy but lovely names.

Schvitzing · 16/09/2017 16:38

Oh and overhead a Caspian in a bookshop once too.

MammieBear · 16/09/2017 21:53

@Schvitzing Caspian is gorgeous lovely sound to it, I picture a talented artsy sort.

Artemis for a boy
I loved the name Gwendolyn from Enid Blyton's St Claire's series, even though the character was a horror. Was going to use it for a DD, but had 4 DSs
Titty in Swallows and Amazons was short for Tatiana, which I also love. Suspect both Titty and Tatty would lead to ridicule though.

Hermione is beautiful (Hermi)!

user1485182339 · 20/09/2017 20:00

Caspian is quite heroic?
I love Dickon, but hadn't been brave enough before and might not ever. As adults and small kids it doesn't even register, but oh I shudder for the tweenie and teenager years!
Nice thread. So many old friends.

Camomila · 21/09/2017 15:28

Hermione (HP)

ladybirdsaredotty · 21/09/2017 18:11

I cannot decide if I'm brave enough to use Caspian for DS (due soon)! Hmm...

BoudicasBoudoir · 21/09/2017 19:21

Why Artemis 'for a boy'?
Artemis is a Greek goddess and it's a girl's name.

Cagliostro · 21/09/2017 19:22

It's because of the book series about Artemis Fowl, who is a boy. That always bugged me (although the books are brilliant), it is indeed a girl's name!

cafeaulaitpourvous · 21/09/2017 19:39

Titty

SerfTerf · 21/09/2017 20:55
