Renesmee - Twilight

Pah ha ha ha. Just kidding Grin

MammieBear · 14/09/2017 16:38

@lemondrop99 I should imagine there are some renesmee's out there in the real world, it is quite a nice smoosh of names.

Lyra, Hester, Serafina and Tialys all from His Dark Materials.

MammieBear · 14/09/2017 17:06

@LadyOfTheCanyon It seems his dark materials is a very popular series of books with some lovely names.

Cassandra from I Capture the Castle...I so so wanted to be her!

I read a lot of fantasy growing up. So...

Yvaine from Stardust
Arren and Lark from the Earthsea books (and Ursula too actually)
Lyra
Caspian
Milo from The Phantom Tolbooth
Arwen, Eowyn and Pippin from LOTR
Celia and Bailey from The Night Circus
Roland from Elidor

Footle · 14/09/2017 19:02

MaroonPencil, I know of a Tolly short for Anatole, if that helps.

PinkFlamingo888 · 14/09/2017 19:36

Matilda 😍

FurryDogMother · 14/09/2017 19:43

Samwise
Ishmael
Ross
Demelza
Portia

17caterpillars1mouse · 14/09/2017 19:56

Gretel

DappledThings · 14/09/2017 19:59

Seconding Milo from The Phantom Tollbooth. Also Dorothea from Swallows and Amazons

puffylovett · 14/09/2017 20:08

Garion (David eddings)
Anne (of green gables)
Edmund (lion witch & wardrobe)
Will (the dark is rising)
Robin
Merry (merriman- Susan cooper again)

But my all time favourite is -

Cecy (from What Katy Did :)

puffylovett · 14/09/2017 20:09

Oh.. and Daryl from Mallory towers?

AliceLutherNeeMorgan · 14/09/2017 20:12

Petrova and Posy (I don't like Pauline)

Tabitha, Jemima, Cecile, Rebekah, Thomas, Samuel, Benjamin (not mad on Peter)

Carlotta, Sally, Felicity (not Darrell)

Emerence, Cornelia, Margot, Constance, Simone

AliceLutherNeeMorgan · 14/09/2017 20:14

Oh and I love Cosette (but I wouldn't name my baby it)

halesie · 14/09/2017 20:16

Another vote for Lyra.
Or Ariana (Dumbledore's sister from Harry Potter)

SecretFreebirther · 14/09/2017 20:21

I like Dickon from The Secret Garden Blush

Littlegreyauditor · 14/09/2017 20:24

Ignatius from Iggy Peck, Architect, but only because I like to read "Good gracious, Ignatius".

TheresSomebodyAtTheDoor · 14/09/2017 20:32

Roberta (railway children)
Maud (worst witch)
Clarice (Clarice Bean)

TishHope · 14/09/2017 20:36

Wendy
Christina
Alice

Potcallingkettle · 14/09/2017 20:36

I agree with Maroon Pencil. Toseland nn Tolly from Children of Green Knowe is a great name but just too out there.

Greenifer · 14/09/2017 20:42

Green I just went looking for stats on the use of Arrietty and noticed that one of the babyname sites is suggesting it as a NN for Harriet. So potentially one could have both.

Too late for me, sadly, but that is a top idea!

Aravis is brilliant, but again required a bit of bravery...

Tilapia · 14/09/2017 20:43

Kialan from Cart and Cwidder by Diana Wynne Jones

HeteronormativeHaybales · 14/09/2017 20:53

Yy to Petrova and Posy. I rather like Sylvia too, and Theo Dane is very cool.

I do wish Titty (Swallows and Amazons) hadn't been spoiled by the crude meaning.

And I rather like Anthea (Five Children and It).

For boys, my favourite is Emil (Emil and the Detectives).
