Opinions on the name Seren

I'm aware this is quite a popular name in Wales (I'm half Welsh and was born there but we live in the north of England now) but I don't know any girls called Seren in real life. I'm not sure it'll actually work with our surname, but it's the only name my DH and I have remotely agreed on yet.

Any thoughts? If you heard this would you be like "oh god not another Seren" or think it was weird?

I have never run into one teaching in Ireland.
I like it, but I do prefer Serena. Having said that, it's a lovely choice considering you've welsh family.

And it's easy for non-Welsh people to pronounce, which is a bonus! (My daughter has a fairly-straightforward but not-very-common Welsh name which seems to flummox people!)

@soundsystem and not too difficult to spell either! I like a lot of Welsh names but so many of them aren't intuitive to pronounce or spell.

I get the impression part of the attraction is the meaning but to me, that doesn't make up for the dullness of it. Its kind of watery, sorry

Love it, not heard it before but my lovely 6mo nieces name and it's lovely, serene (get it?) and unusual enough with the silliness of younique, weird or wacky!

I love it, only come across one seren in rly but it was also the name of something on CBeebies when my boy was little, he's now 7

Seren means star in Welsh, the only consideration I would say is....is it easily pronounceable where you live as I find that is a problem a lot of my friends have (ones with Welsh names) when they are outside Wales.

I love it. It would have been one of my top choices for DD except it sounds to much like my name.

Much prefer it to Serena.

I think its a lovely name, but i wouldn't use it where i am (S.Wales lol) due to it being so common. Its pronounced completely different to Serena though, so not really similar lol
As long as you both like it thats the main thing!
My son is called Osian (a few Osian's around here) and a woman in the doctors waiting room was horrified with it! She was so rude it was unbelievable!

I live in Wales. There are a lot of little Serens
However , I'm English , and I think it looks like Serena , spelt wrongly
