Everyone seems to worry about popularity, so what name have you known the most of in the same class?

Growing up I had six (!) Daniels in my class, so over a third of the boys. There were two in the adjacent class too.

I've also known two separate classes with three Isabelles each who were all Izzy.
Three Jacks.
Three Freyas too which is odd as it's not that popular.

Went to reception with five different Matts (Matthew, I guess - they all went by 'Matt'), three Nicoles, two Michaels and two Chrises.

OTOH, I'm a Hestia - reasonably certain this would out me if I hadn't been going by by middle name for years. Also not always great.

Wincher · 26/06/2017 21:24

In my subject and year at university there were 40 of us - 20 men and 20 women. Of the women, 4 were called Sarah and 4 were called Claire...

NoCapes · 26/06/2017 21:24

In DS1s class there are 5 Charlies and 4 Jacks

In DDs class there aren't any repetitions but there seems to be a vowel theme within the girls, there's; Ayda, Elsie, Ella, Emme, Erin, Isla, Imogen, Isobel & Olivia

Lancelottie · 26/06/2017 21:29

We had three David Taylors in my year.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 26/06/2017 21:44

At junior school I was in a class with 3 Stephen/ Stevens and a Stevie, two of whom had the surname Jones.
At secondary I was in a class with three Claire/ Clares.
I have never been in a class with or worked with someone with the same first name as me, but I do have Jane as my second name. Grin

Solasum · 26/06/2017 22:05

Arrrrgh apostrophes

MissHavishamsleftdaffodil · 26/06/2017 22:07

About half my year group were either Claire or Christopher, and everyone else seemed to be Catherine, Matthew or David.

My last class had Keeleys, Kayleighs, Kylies, Kaydens and Kyrons galore.

LittleCandle · 26/06/2017 22:08

Way back in the late 70s/early 80s, there were 4 Lauras in a combined primary 3/4 class of only 20 children at a school my DM taught at.

Belmo · 26/06/2017 22:10

Hundreds of Claires and Lauras at my school.
Dd(5) has 3 Lilys and 2 Islas.

RiverTam · 26/06/2017 22:11

Sarah, Catherine/Katherine, Jo(anne/a), Vicky (mid 80s).

DD's school class seems pretty varied but her nursery class had 3 Noahs and 3 Harrys. But I do live in an area where people bend of backwards to ensure their child doesn't have a popular name Grin.

IHeartKingThistle · 26/06/2017 22:14

In my DDs reception class there was Leela, Lila and Lola 😁

oldbirdy · 26/06/2017 22:22

My dd (7)'s year has two Avas, an Eva, and an Aoife. Also Mia, Mya and Myla, and 2 Serens.

Boys wise, there are 2 Georges and 2 Alfies.

My first class when I started teaching, I had about 15 girls. 3 were Amy and 4 Victoria. They would have been born in early 1980s.

Moonflower12 · 26/06/2017 22:24

8 Sarah's in my maths class at school- mid 80s.
We have a lot of Sofia's locally.

SuperBeagle · 26/06/2017 22:27

In primary school, we had 3 Madeleines and 3 Georgias. In high school, we had 3 Madeleines and 1 Madison (all Maddie/Maddy). None of those Madeleines were the ones from my primary school, but it was in the same small area, so I assume it must've been a very popular choice the year I was born.

Can't recall for boys, but there were always loads of Benjamins/Bens and Matthews/Matts.

My dad was one of 6 Davids in his Kindergarten class back in the day. The teacher renamed them all a nickname (his was Sam) so that she didn't have to do the initial thing etc. and Sam stuck for him for life.

HesMyLobster · 26/06/2017 22:38

In my reception class last year we had 2 x Maia, 2 x Mia and a Mayah. Also 2 x Elsa, 2 x Elsie, an Elise an Elissa and 2 x Alyssa. Confused

This year is more varied but we do have 3 Jessicas, 2 Isabellas, 2 Erins and 2 Poppys.

Boys last year we had 3 Harrys, 2 Harrisons, 3 Josephs and 3 Benjamins.

This year we have 4 x James, 3 Olivers.

(These are all across a cohort of 60)

Sayhellotothelittlefella · 26/06/2017 22:41

In the mid eighties I went on a brownie camp of about 25 - 8 of them Sarah

AtSea1979 · 26/06/2017 22:42

Lots of Joanne's and Sarah's back in the 80s. In DD class (Y3) Williams and Bens not multiple girls names. In DS (Y7) lots of Sams.

Sophronia · 26/06/2017 22:43

James and Daniel were the most popular boys names in my year (born 89/90). We had three James Turners.

Sophronia · 26/06/2017 22:51

A lot of female Biblical names were popular back then too, like Rebecca, Abigail, Sarah, Rachel, Hannah and Naomi. Nowadays it's male Biblical names that are common: Noah, Ethan, Reuben, Elijah etc.

shugfish · 26/06/2017 23:05

BigGlasses very amused that there are so many Ewan's and Megan's in your DC classes. There both my DC names and I only know one other of each and none in their enormous school.
