not keen

Cloudhopper · 26/02/2007 19:44

Interesting. Is it short for something or just on its own?

belgo · 26/02/2007 19:44

Rita is very pretty. Can also be short for Margerita, which I find lovely.

I can't pronounce my 'r's very well though, so would never choose it.

marthamoo · 26/02/2007 19:44

Sorry - very first thought "Lovely Rita meter maid" (that may well be my age though).

Coronation Street

AnnabelCaramel · 26/02/2007 19:45

Just makes me think of The Beatles 'lovely Rita, meter-maid'...and I'm not that old!

Then again, she might grow into it...name choices are really really difficult.

Mmmmm, makes me think of a Woman in her 60's with curlers in her hair...I guess I'n not keen!

Have you any other choices???

TeeCee · 26/02/2007 19:48

Not my favourite name in the world to be honest, but it might grow on me, it's unusual, hmmmm I really like the name Ruth actually so it may well grow on me.

hunkerdave · 26/02/2007 19:48

Educating...

PrincessPeaHead · 26/02/2007 19:49

of all the names in all the world are you SERIOUSLY thinking of giving your lovely pretty little baby that one?

madwoman

Miaou · 26/02/2007 19:50

Ditto Annabel and Marthamoo ! Not sure tbh ... Miaou jury out on this one ...

WideWebWitch · 26/02/2007 19:50

don't like it

puppydavies · 26/02/2007 19:52

i thought it sounded movie starry

OP posts:
honeyapple · 26/02/2007 19:52

If you like it, it really doesnt matter what anybody else thinks! If we were all called names that everyone likes/approved of, what a very boring place it would be. And she wouldnt be mixed up with the other thousand kids called the same thing at school.

Hulababy · 26/02/2007 19:53

I don't lie it TBH.

However, it's only what you and DH think that matters really.

honeyapple · 26/02/2007 19:53

I agree with the movie star thing!
Like Ava, Ginger etc...
Go for it!

puppydavies · 26/02/2007 19:53

oh i have no intention of actually taking any notice of opinions, just curious ;)

OP posts:
belgo · 26/02/2007 19:53

I'm obviously in the minority for liking it.

NotanOtter · 26/02/2007 19:54

no - i really like it
All these old names come back into fashion
it just takes guts to do it
dot be afraid - go for it!

AnnabelCaramel · 26/02/2007 19:55

When my mum told her mum what my sister was going to be called she said 'that's a stupid name for a baby' - trouble is, how do you pick a name for the right age? She might not be a Rita now but could be in 20 years. It's tough.

Booboobedoo · 26/02/2007 19:55

I like it: immediately thought of Rita Hayworth.
