SidtheKidsMum · 27/02/2007 14:14

Rita's a brilliant name. Not too girly, just short and sweet.

UCM · 27/02/2007 14:16

I know a Rita, we call her 'Reet'

UCM · 27/02/2007 14:16

Oh and I like it btw>

foxtrot · 27/02/2007 14:16

Reet Petite the finest girl you'll ever meet

slinkiemalinki · 18/01/2008 22:02

No sorry

chankins · 18/01/2008 22:04

I can't imagine a baby called rita. A teenager, or twenty something yes but a baby called rita seems strange...but then babies grow up so perhaps a wise choice after all.

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 18/01/2008 22:09

No thank you.

Umlellala · 18/01/2008 22:10

Rita is a grower. Quite cool I think.

I worked with someone who planned to call their little girl Stanley (not sure how she spelt it). We were all but then when she brought the little baby in and said this is Stanley - it suddenly seemed quite cute and appropriate.

If it sounds nice to you, go for it. At least it's a real name...

kindersurprise · 18/01/2008 22:17

Hmm. I am not sure of Rita, but I have to admit that I am influenced by the fact that my SIL is called Rita. I do like the Rita Hayworth/movie star thing.

Don't like Lorelei, as it is a big lump of stone near Bonn.

And the original Lorelei:

"Myth soon had her as a mermaid, sitting on the rock and luring sailors to their death, but it wasn't until Heinrich Heine's 1823 poem 'Lorelei', about a virgin combing her golden hair with a golden comb, while singing a song with a haunting melody, and Friedrich Silcher's setting of it to music a year later, that the legend really took off"

here and a bit sad.

Just noticed that this thread is almost a year old.

Wonder what she called her DD

Chuffinnora · 18/01/2008 22:25

Don't think Lovely Rita will matter. Nobody mentions Ruby Tuesday after all.

If I heard rather than read Lorelei I would have thought it was Laura-Lee (that's if I have read it correctly?) and then I'm not keen because it sounds a bit county and western.

Or have I got it really wrong??

fairygirl3 · 18/01/2008 22:26

um.hormones play a huge part in picking a name ,i cringe when i think of some of the name s i picked for mine,to embarrassed to say ,thats how bad !ask yr family/friends &listen as they will know you best & if your going to regret it in a years time !

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 18/01/2008 22:31

Not keen on Rita, but if you really love the name it shouldn't matter what we think!

Izzybel · 18/01/2008 22:32

This thread is v. old! Wonder if she went with Rita in the end.
Chuffinnora, Lorelei reminds me of yodeling!

3andnomore · 20/01/2008 09:45

Thanks to Harry Potter

Rita Skeeter

niceglasses · 20/01/2008 10:03

I lurve Rita. If I had another wee girl it would be a contender. But then I have a Nancy and I think they are from the same era.

Got for it. I had a good bit of opposition with Nancy but am so glad I stuck with it now.

BettySpaghetti · 20/01/2008 10:03

Not keen TBH

Makes me think of Rita the newsagent and former pub/club singer in Corrie I'm afraid
