Only stipulation is that they can't be 'made up' names and no creative spellings.

What's the most outlandish/borderline ridiculous name you've heard bestowed on a baby girl?

CancellyMcChequeface · 17/08/2016 14:51

Meerage (pronounced like 'mirage')
Delikate
Sherryann
Penninah
Janetbest (I thought 'best' was her surname at first, but no, all one word)
Princess

I love the unusual virtue names, like Precious, Prudence and Comfort.

I also taught a little girl whose given first name was Lady, and her parents wanted us to call her by first and middle name, so 'Lady Katherine' - fortunately she soon became known as Katie!

I know a beautiful Isis too, she's currently going by a nn.

Clytemnestra, a distant relative of mine.
Bronte at school, sadly known as Brontosaurus
Satasha, always wrongly assumed to be a typo.
Petula, who is in her fifties.

I overheard a mum booking her baby in at the Dr recently, and her name was Charisma Hmm

No need to roll your eyes. The word Charisma is a Sanskrit/Hindu name and it means 'miracle'.

HerRoyalFattyness · 17/08/2016 22:50

Panther lily is a cool name and happens to be the name of one of the characters in an anime I watch but it's a boys name. Grin

HerRoyalFattyness · 17/08/2016 22:50

purplepaisley · 17/08/2016 23:51

Ninette. For years I thought the child was called Nanette (as in Newman) until I saw it written down.

NoMudNoLotus · 18/08/2016 00:19

I have a DD called Blossom.

I love the African virtue names - Blessing being one of my faves.

If I had any more children DC I may include Rainbow as rainbows are symbols of hope.

Atenco · 18/08/2016 01:11

A lot of these names are really lovely and just unusual. I went to university many years ago with a fella whose name was Stalin, now there is a name to live down.
