Only stipulation is that they can't be 'made up' names and no creative spellings.

What's the most outlandish/borderline ridiculous name you've heard bestowed on a baby girl?

Mercedes

I know this was originally a girls name, but it seems a bit odd now that it is so much associated with the marque of car.

A friend of a friend had a DD called this.

I don't see Piper as being outlandish. American, yes. But not outlandish.

Jacinta was quite popular in Ireland for a while - one of the girls who saw the "apparition" of our lady at Fatima was called Jacinta.

I know a Naveah. I don't think it is in the realm of "trixiebelle froufrou" It is just a new combination of letters that sound ok as a name. Clodagh, which was quite popular in Ireland, was a name made up by some landowner in Waterford in the 19th century if I remember correctly - named her after a river. Fiona was made up by a Scottish writer in the 18th century.

I would have loved to name a daughter Isabeau ... the she-devil of Europe apparently in the 14th century. (I also LOVE the Scottish name Ishbelle)

oldlaundbooth · 14/08/2016 01:23
