Only stipulation is that they can't be 'made up' names and no creative spellings.

What's the most outlandish/borderline ridiculous name you've heard bestowed on a baby girl?

5 years ago I was all up for calling DD Isis. Fortunately DH is a bit more up on current affairs and put his foot down.

flumpybear · 14/08/2016 15:41

Aome -ay oooo me - apple of mummy's eye

OlafLovesAnna · 14/08/2016 15:42

I saw an Iecha on a day out the other day - the spelling was on her hat but her mum was calling her Aisha

OlafLovesAnna · 14/08/2016 15:46

I very nearly called DD Isis in Aug 2012 before it was hijacked by Islamic State.

So so glad I didn't!

JasperDamerel · 14/08/2016 15:59

My cousin's daughter is called Oihana, which is a Basque name meaning forest.

Sunshine
Tuesday
Honey-Bee
Harmony

And at the other extreme, Chrysothemis. Which i know is a classical name, but she was the first I'd met.

MrsSchadenfreude · 14/08/2016 17:15

Sunray
Skye and
Birdie

Abcde (Pronounced 'A-buh-SEE-duh')
L-a (Pronounced 'La-DASH-uh')
Lettice
Sorrel (I actually like this one!)

guiltynetter · 14/08/2016 17:45

I don't know many outlandish girls names, I met a cora-lynn the other day though.

From my school days (so born in the 70s):
Bluebell
Oriel
Nonie
Candy
Melody
Anouska

From the DC's school/Nursery days (so born in the 00s):
Harmony
Kitty Hope (not really out there as such, but always makes me think of a cat sanctuary)
Ixia
Honey
Velvet
Autumn
Masha

HainaultViaNewburyPark · 14/08/2016 17:58

Oh, almost forgot - Yosca (another 00s one).

AgentJ · 14/08/2016 18:02

My DD (she's 2) went to preschool with a little girl called Apple. Fucking ridiculous parents.

Also known a Charisma - she had none.

Know of a Jupiter and think it's the most ridiculous 'name' for a child I've ever heard. Some people are twats though.

Anasnake · 14/08/2016 18:04

Teenage DS tells me there's a Chardonnay and a Rioja at his school, though not related !!

someonescj · 14/08/2016 18:18

I know a Peony, Pearl and Pixie (sisters, lovely girls and parents)
Zelda (after the legend of Zelda)
And a a Boudah (pronounced Bow-Da, mum would describe herself as a "crunchy mama")

jaykay34 · 14/08/2016 18:18

I also know a "Charisma" with none.

Other out-there names:
Lucky
Chardonnay (know a few born around 2003 and named after the "Footballer's Wives character)
Tequilla (spelt incorrectly)

jamhot · 14/08/2016 18:19

DS is likely to be an only child, but if we'd had a girl, our favourite name was Cherry Blossom.

I was reading some of the names on this list out to DH, and he pointed out that Cherry Blossom would probably be on the list if she had existed.

neonrainbow · 14/08/2016 18:40

I like zelda

maggiethemagpie · 14/08/2016 18:41

I quite like 'epiphany'. Would bestow a lot of expectation on someone though!

Blueberry234 · 14/08/2016 18:44

I know of a Jenny truly scrumptious surname

MrsGsnow18 · 14/08/2016 18:51

What is a crunchy mama?
I quite like sorrel too Blush

Antigone, Portia, Jacinta etc, none of those are odd to me- they are classic names surely? Fophie on the other hand...
