The ONS data will be released later than usual this year, on 2 September.

Any predictions? Big rises or falls?

I'm a mega west wing fan but all the names I would use from the show are really popular atm:

Sam/Toby/Leo/Josh/Charlie

Was considering Arabella. It's jumped to 95. I should think it would still be okay to use, as in there wouldn't be more than 2 in a class? I

CwtchyQ I have two DC - one with a name in the 30s and one in the 90s and they are both the only ones with their names in their school.

Thanks Frog - that's interesting. I love so many names in the top 30 but as someone with 5 others of the same name in my year at school, am not keen to do the same to DC2. I actually really love Joseph and Luke at the moment, so what you said is encouraging!

keysersophie (great name btw)
There's a website that will do that for you. Haven't got the link but it's called something like DarkGreener Baby Name stats. I have spent hours on there before!

I wonder if Elsa will have had a massive bounce as a result of Frozen.

To answer my own Elsa question interestingly it seems there has been a Frozen effect. It went from being the 104th most popular name in 2014 (537 babies) to the 262nd in 2015 (190 babies). That's quite a fall!

People were obviously majorly turned off by the Disney factor.

The ONS website must be struggling with traffic because it keeps freezing on me. Are the spreadsheets available this year, or has the new searchable tool (which looks quite swanky but I can't get to work) supposed to replace the spreadsheets? Hope not!

Look at how Jaxon has climbed in ten years - 1055 places higher than it was a decade ago (and 35 places higher than it was in 2014) - and now a couple of places higher than the proper original spelling of Jackson.

Urgh.

Is there any data for beyond the top 100?

HerRoyalFattyness · 02/09/2016 12:08

Monkey this website let's you type in a name and tells you where it's ranked and how many children in England and Wales were given that name.

Thanks HerRoyalFattyness. It's been updated for 2015 already? They work fast!!

I know! It's how I know DDs name has increased slightly in popularity. 9 children in 2013, 9 in 2014 and 16 on 2015 were given her name.

Well, Ivy is officially more popular than Holly. I know Ivy's on trend and I knew it would rise but I'm still a bit surprised by this.

The only other thing I'm surprised about with the girls is how low down Beatrice is (feels like it's everywhere), that Eve isn't top 100 yet the other variants are popular and that Maddison has come back. That feels quite dated to me.

The boys are all pretty much what I expected.

15 girls were named 'Baby' in 2015 Confused

And 17 boys!

I always assumed the babies called 'Baby' were actually unnamed for some reason.

Yeah, don't want to think of that. Some are because they are there to get two certificates

Summer-Willow was given to 3 girls! That's a mouthful!
