As a name for a boy, nn Wolfie.....

Other DC have slightly unusual names.

Is it too weird?

Citizen Smith.
Too weird.

kitchenunit · 12/06/2016 17:34

A friend has just had a Wolf.

It's weird.

RortyCrankle · 12/06/2016 17:34

Sorry, I think it's horrible.

Jokeaboutmyhotchoc · 12/06/2016 17:35
Hmm

Really????

MildlyattractiveBetty · 12/06/2016 17:35

No

Wolfiefan · 12/06/2016 17:36

I'm a wolfiefan.
But as a name for a child. In RL. Who one day will have to make friends, apply for college and go out to work. Um no. Just no.

FlappyRose · 12/06/2016 17:36

Too weird. I'd think you were a Gladiators fan.

LunaLoveg00d · 12/06/2016 17:36

Is he a Gladiator with a mullet?

If not, avoid like the plague.

Tiggeryoubastard · 12/06/2016 17:36
Biscuit
NamelessLittleDude · 12/06/2016 17:37

I knew a Sharky; it's better than that!

KaraokeQueenOfTheNorth · 12/06/2016 17:41

Like the gladiator! It's not a name I'd choose.

peppercold · 12/06/2016 17:42

Wolfgang

Deaver · 12/06/2016 17:42

It seems to be well liked on previous mumsnet threads Grin

Mumandmama · 12/06/2016 17:43

Awful!

Abetes · 12/06/2016 17:44

No - don't. It's awful.

clippityclop · 12/06/2016 17:44

No!

EdithWeston · 12/06/2016 17:45

Very Citizen Smith!

I'd go for Wolfgang, or Wulfram as a full name. Or Edwulf, Caelwulf or Saexwulf if you're really into Anglo-Saxon

originalmavis · 12/06/2016 17:51

Fast forward 18 years, trendy bar in boy chatting up girl...

Hi, what's your name?
Maggie, you?
Wolf
Eh? As in arooooooooo werewolves in London?
Yes
Was your mum on gas at the birth?

I've laughed if a wolf tried to hit on me.

Dogolphin · 12/06/2016 18:39

I like it as a short form of Wolfric. Could be shortened to Ricky as well.
I also like Alaric Alfred and Ulric.

Nannawifeofbaldr · 12/06/2016 18:44

I always fancied 'Wulf' but it's sadly not a very sensible name... Sad

Nataleejah · 12/06/2016 18:55

If pronounced german way Volf, not Woolf its nice

Deaver · 12/06/2016 18:56

Wolfric?

OP posts:
FrannySalinger · 12/06/2016 18:59

Adore Wolf (but have very left field names for my own... Tiger is a definite if we have another, boy or girl)

Haggisfish · 12/06/2016 19:00

Just no.

LadyMumble · 12/06/2016 19:18

I wanted to use Wolf as a middle name for ds, dh refused to have the conversation with me and said I was too pregnant to make a rational decision. Roll on to a week or so after the birth when we went to register ds and I was horrified at the idea of Wolf and perfectly happy with James.

Is this a name you would have considered pre pregnancy? Was it on the list for other dc?

Maybe get a few others on your shortlist in case you change your mind.
