As a name for a boy, nn Wolfie.....

Other DC have slightly unusual names.

Is it too weird?

It's awful. Especially if he ends up being a slight, mild mannered boy/man.

Wolf sounds like the nickname a leather-waistcoated Sons of Anarchy lookalike might get when they pass their biker gang initiation.

Have to say though, Badger is worse. What are people thinking??!

originalmavis · 21/06/2016 16:46

Or if he is like my uncle who is very very very hairy (apart from on his head).

cookielove · 21/06/2016 16:50

My son's middle name is Wolfe, family name although that's not why we decided on it. I love it :)

Thewolfsjustapuppy · 21/06/2016 18:07

I love it, love Wulfric more.

Wordsaremything · 21/06/2016 21:12

Fabulous!

Elizabeth09 · 29/06/2016 23:08

We had it down as a potential middle name for a way (after Howlin' Wolf), but it doesn't go with the surname, so it was struck off the list eventually. I like it but would never be game to use it as a first name!

BretonTop · 29/06/2016 23:16

I know of siblings called Wolf and Isis (girl). I'm not keen, but each to their own.

littlepeas · 29/06/2016 23:54

I like it! Was tempted for ds2, but he has ended up with something very classic instead! All I would say, is that you don't know how your child is going to turn out - I think that is the biggest factor with any unusual name. My dh plays tennis with a bloke called Raphael, who looks about as unlike someone called Raphael as you can imagine - its bizarre tbh.

Livvy79 · 30/06/2016 14:23

I like it! I think Wulf is a common(ish) name in Germany and it has the same meaning, so why not? I also love Tiger, but I'm not allowed to use it :( I was pretty much attacked for my choice of girls names on a previous thread, so maybe you shouldn't listen to me!

christinawilliams · 30/06/2016 14:39

I would go for another one.

WanderingNotLost · 30/06/2016 20:41

I also know a Sharky. He tends to go by his far more traditional middle name.

WanderingNotLost · 30/06/2016 20:42

That said, there is a girl who was in the GoT cast called Nell Tiger Free, which I think sounds so lovely. But would probably be less cool if her surname was Davies.

knitpicker · 30/06/2016 20:46

Love Wulfric!

Deaver · 04/07/2016 19:16

So, we're at a stalemate.

DP wants Wolf and that is all he wants.

I want Ezra.

We both like Theo but his DB has a son called Theo. We pretty much never see them though.

Fuckin'ell 😂😂😂

MrsGsnow18 · 07/07/2016 08:11

Ezra Wolf could maybe be a compromise?
I do like Wolfe with an e on the end. Also like Wolfgang as full name.

caju · 07/07/2016 11:36

I was talking to a friend about the name Hunter a couple of days ago and how it reminded us of the Gladiators tv show, and we said jokingly, "what's next, kids called Wolf?! Hahahahahahaha"

In other words: It would be a ridiculous name

sparechange · 07/07/2016 11:50

I know a boy called Wulf
And it will out me/them, but the other siblings are Wild and Skylark
The parents are quite tryhard and I have money on the kids all changing their names as soon as they are able

CruCru · 07/07/2016 18:09

I know a Wolf but it is short for Wolfgang. I would be tempted to use Wilfred and then call him Wolf for short but that may not be to your taste.

YourNewspaperIsShit · 07/07/2016 21:23

I started a Wolf thread before DS was born, we almost went for it (the gladiator thing didn't put us off at all) but as previously said there was a chance he'd turn out really slight and not matching his name in the slightest. Although we didn't stray that far because we used Fox GrinGrin
