DS was born a bit early yesterday after a v.fast labour which has left me a bit shell shocked. We knew we were a bit stuck for names but assumed inspiration would strike when he was born.....sadly not!

I really love Kit, but a) Dh is not convinced, and b) it's recent celebrity use puts me off.....

Names we like but maybe not enough include Edward, Jack, Luke, Eric, and Tom.

Been doing some 2am googled (so my judgement might be a bit off) and have seen Wolf, Heath, Ash, Robin (but dislike Rob as a nn).

Help. As you can see the names are all a bit random. He'll be Baby for a while at this rate :-(

OMG Gorgeous baby!!

Sorry what were you talking about again? He's adorable, call him anything!

Artandco · 05/02/2016 12:06

If you like wilf what about Walter? Nickname Walt

Bin85 · 05/02/2016 12:08

I like Pip, Kit , Robin, too
How about Dominic ( nickname Dom) ?
He is lovely

dustarr73 · 05/02/2016 12:15

I do like Wilf or how about Edwin.

zipzap · 05/02/2016 13:21

Flowers Congratulations, he's very cute.

Wilf is lovely. Kit's good but I would have second thoughts about using it if it had just been used by the Rooney's. I think Eric is due a comeback but there seem to be a lot of Jack, Tom and Luke's around so would avoid them if you don't want a name that you'll hear a lot.

If you like Edward but are not completely sure about it, how about Edmund as something similar but a bit different? You get to use the same nicknames as Edward but there are a lot fewer Edmund's around (disclaimer - dh is an Edmund (nnTed) and he rarely comes across another one, whereas he has lots of Ed/Eddie/Edward's in his friends)

MyFavouriteClintonisGeorge · 05/02/2016 17:19

I do like Edward, nn Ted or Teddie.

Have you considered Wulfstan? I do like that name and even suggested it, but my DH was not keen.

Soooosie · 05/02/2016 23:20

I adore wilf. Either name is great though. With edward you get ted or ned as nicknames.

MadameDePompom · 05/02/2016 23:24

Way too many Teds and Teddys about. Edward in full is nice!

gBean · 05/02/2016 23:27

Christopher. It shortens to Kit and is a great name.

Zariyah · 05/02/2016 23:28

He looks so cute and squishy. 😍 Congratulations!! He actually looks a lot like an Edward; go for it!

cleanasawhistle · 05/02/2016 23:31

Very cute baby ,congratultions.

Think I saw the name Albie mentioned on here the other day which is nice.

Wilf
Declan
George
Drew

Notso · 05/02/2016 23:42

I really love Robin, I wanted it for DC4 but DH said no and I am a tiny bit glad now as there's two in his class at nursery but your gorgeous boy looks like an Edward to me.

namelessboy · 07/02/2016 18:55

We're nearly there....

Edward James
Edmund James (inspired by zip)

Our last name begins with M and is fairly long.

Thoughts? We've both consistently loved Edward but Edmund is a bit more unusual? There's also a tenuous personal reason for Edmund.

OP posts:
GiddyGiddyGoat · 07/02/2016 18:58

or Edwin....

Edmund is much nicer than Edward imo.

MadameDePompom · 07/02/2016 19:02

I think Edmund is awful. Sorry! But the 'mund' but doesn't appeal at all.

MeganChips · 07/02/2016 19:08

How about Edgar? I really like it and in my opinion, cooler than Edmund.

dustarr73 · 07/02/2016 21:13

Yes Edwin is much nicer.

LarrytheCucumber · 07/02/2016 23:07

I was at school with a rather nasty Edwin, which colours it for me. I wanted Edward for DC 2, but she was a girl.
Close family member called Robin and it is never shortened. Once or twice people have tried Rob, but he just says 'No, it's Robin'. For some reason people accept Robin as it is, whereas Robert is often shortened.

hownottofuckup · 07/02/2016 23:13

Oh he's gorgeous!!
Edward is a great name, but beware they tend to choose their own NN! Good thing about Edward is there are so many to choose from.

namelessboy · 08/02/2016 17:37

Excellent choice - that's a great name not that I'm biased, oh no Grin for a gorgeous little boy. Hope you're all very happy! Flowers

namelessboy · 09/02/2016 03:58

Thanks zip, and thank you for suggesting Edmund :-)

Heath!

This was my number for DS all the way through pregnancy but a few days before I told a friend and they pulled a Confused face for a split second which ruined it for me. They said they had never heard of it as a name literature not their strong point!

I always feel a tiny bit of regret that we didn't use it. Do it. Ps like archer too, for obvious reasons Smile

Archer26 · 09/02/2016 06:35

Oh sorry, just seen your update. Will teach me to post with reading the full thread. I love the name you've chosen too. Congratulations Thanks
