A brother for Artemisia

Originally it was going to be Lucian...yep we are those parents. But we got cold feet and decided it was too wanky even for us. (I love Lucian to any Lucian owners, but we thought in combination with Artemisia, it was a bit...hmm)

So then, after much discussion, the only name we could agree on, was Milo. But we have now come across, not one, not two, but THREE dogs called Milo. Apparently it is in the top ten dog names in the UK. This has... put us off. And we don't like Miles.

Names I like, which DH has roundly rejected:

Tobias
Marcus
Sebastian
Casper
Silas
Felix

Anyone got any good suggestions, before we name our son this generation's equivalent of Rex?

I am 39+6 and getting a bit worried that we seem to have NO candidates. DH has been totally unable to come up with any suggestions.

Everyone I know who likes Milo also likes Sebastian

Gruach · 30/09/2015 00:04

Too late to change your mind and produce a daughter OP?

Artemisia and Hero would be splendidly matched.

NegativeIron · 30/09/2015 00:23

Corin.

Lovely name. Actor, Narnia, unusual without being too flouncy. Ok, he'll have to say " no, not Colin" but what wtf. I have to spell my name every time and I love my name. And the R sound goes well with Artemisia.

Actually, I like Colin too.

Constant/Constantine

Oh my goodness, you must be so bored of waiting. BrewFlowers

ediepop · 30/09/2015 11:44

Aww myotheruser they are gorgeous!

Cominground I do like Sebastian. But DH says no Hmm.

DD was nearly called Constance. Not so keen for a boy

Negative Iron Colin? Colin? No. I have friend with a cat called Colin. Thank you for the Flowers! I am SO fed up.

Gruach sadly that decision was made some time ago and not by me, if my basic understanding of biology is correct. But I'll bear it in mind if we ever decide to do this again...

Hmmm still love Benedict but seeing as you are still waiting what about Larkin or Lauchlain.

Atlas?

yumyumpoppycat · 30/09/2015 12:03

Quincey, have I said that already?

yumyumpoppycat · 30/09/2015 12:05

Pineapple, Madras, Longwalk?

PfftTheMagicDraco · 30/09/2015 12:15

Lucian is a lovely name, and goes very well with your DC1 name. I'd stick with it.

MerryMarigold · 30/09/2015 12:17

I really like Otis.

I have a friend with a Ricky, a Donny and an...Eli. Now there's names which don't match at all. (I like Eli the best)

Personally don't think you can do Artemisia and Benjamin. Alexander or Benedict at a push if using the full name all the time, but would probably end up 'Ben' or 'Alex' so unless dd has a very common nn, I wouldn't. Artemisia and Ben: No. Arty and Ben: No. Alex and Ben: Yes.

Dd has a Fox in her class and ds2 a Blue.

MerryMarigold · 30/09/2015 12:21

Francis is awesome

nicknamenoname · 30/09/2015 12:32

I think Lucian goes well with Artemisia. You could always call him Luke/Luca/Lucas for short if you're worried the combination sounds too poncy. But I bet you'd get used to it and call him Lucian before too long.

Haven't RTFT but here's my suggestions of similar names in case they haven't come up yet:

Simeon
Edmund
Julius
Raphael
Angus/Fergus (Gus)
Orlando
Felix
Gabriel
Roman

EvaTheOptimist · 30/09/2015 12:44

It has to be Milo I think. Otherwise you just have too many syllables to say all the time when introducing your children.

Benedict will not stay Benedict, he will call himself Ben. And Artemisia and Ben does sound a little mis-matched.

Think carefully before you give your children the same initial (eg if you go for Alex(ander)). Can make things confusing at times. Although makes labelling a doddle

nicknamenoname · 30/09/2015 12:46

Also, if DH loves Jacob but you already know one so can't use it, what about Jago? I love Jago.

Just posted on the other Artemisia post - Missy would of been my Abbreviation

Boys names:

Lucian is fabulous
or Frank

We had
Hektor
James
Otto
Bede
Achilles - could not think of a decent abbreviation
Augustus
Theon - Game of Thrones killed that one! and others

In the end we went for a family name with a couple of these as middles.

ArchbishopOfBanterbury · 30/09/2015 13:18

Benedict is lovely and Ben and Missy are very cute together. Just the right amount of ponce.

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 30/09/2015 14:45

Nicholas - stick with the Greek theme
I think Alexander would be fine, but I really like it with Xander as a nickname.

Weirdly David could work too?

MyFavouriteClintonisGeorge · 30/09/2015 16:38

Hoping OP's silence means she's gone into labour

ediepop · 30/09/2015 22:27

Still here Sad I'll be T+10 tomorrow. I have to go and be assessed at the hospital then. Terrified I'm going to end up induced. I had a lovely homebirth with DD and hoping for the same this time.
