DH says Bunny a la Katie Price.

I am desperate to use it, but I've got some persuading to do. And he's made me wonder if I've got it completely wrong... Have I? What does it make you think?

It was my Great-Gran's name and she was born in 1912. I really like it.

Nickname to me. The kind of thing a little girl will be called by her parents and then either grow into or drop it and take another variation from their given name (Catherine, Kathleen etc)

I'm not a huge fan either. To me kitty is s burlesque dancer. Very cool but I'm not sure that's what you necessarily want your daughter to be!

I really like it, it makes me think of a whimsical character from a book written 60 odd years ago. I ve met two Kittys, both Irish. One was called Katherine, the other Catriona.

It's nice if you have Katherine on the birth certificate.

My nan was Kitty her whole life, her real name was Mary Katharine. It's more a nick name to me than a name but I don't associate it with anyone other than my Nan who had an amazing life.

This constant reference to the high court judge test is one of the most stupid things I ever read on mumsnet.

It smacks of cultural imperialism and just how devoid of imagination must you be to think 'oh I haven't heard a judge by that name thus no one with that name will ever be a judge'.

Do you think that's the final test before being appointed? 'Charles - check; Micheal - check John - check. Oh hang on Kitty and Otis? No no despite being the best qualified and well respected they're out for not passing the name test.'

I'm with NoArmani in this one, sadly. But yes, Katherine/Kathleen leave many options open as she grows, and there's no harm in a famiky nickname of Kitty.

Re the judge test, as a child I was amazed at how many parents had had the foresight to name their son "Justice", as in "Lord Justice Smith"...

Love it! Love it so much that it's what I named my only daughter. She's an extremely bright, confident and hardworking student.

Currently her ambition is to study medicine. (However should the notion take her, I've no doubt that she could some day be a high court judge shalli. )

Go for it Op. It's a wonderful characterful name. Definitely 1920s elegance. Your Dh knows nothing - bunny indeed! Dd would be horrified by the notion, as would Dh who is a very straitlaced scientist and actually chose her name!
