Confessions - names you love but will never use

Just as title really. I have a theory that everyone has a baby name that they love but will never/ have never got to use. Mine is Silas, always adored it but DH (and almost everyone else in rl) hates it. My mum's is Toby, she's tried to get us to use it but we haven't obliged. Would anyone else care to share?

I like Atticus too, but the name I've always liked but could never use is Rahab Blush

MadeInChorley · 19/01/2015 12:12

Magnus and Innes. DH did not share the love when it came to my choice of Scottish names for the DCs.

squoosh · 19/01/2015 12:17

Larry let me guess..........you'd tried to call him Rahab but your DH said 'No, no, no'

hollyisalovelyname · 19/01/2015 14:18

Oh Adara I'm sorry that happened to you. Could you adopt or foster?

hollyisalovelyname · 19/01/2015 14:20

Purplehonesty are you in Dublin?

findingherfeet · 19/01/2015 14:22

River...I want a boy called River...well except I don't want anymore babies!

Gabriella and Sadie make me swoon

SheThinksShesPeople · 19/01/2015 15:23

I love the name Bryher for a girl but went and married a chap whose surname rhymes with it. I've never quite forgiven him.

yazz21 · 19/01/2015 15:32

Girls names I love are: Arwen, Autumn, Savannah, Quinn and Artemis. However dp has pulled the WTF face and said they are too wacky. So dd2 will unfortunately, not be called any of these.

For boys I love Orion and Rowan. But only have daughters, and doubt dp would be up for them anyway.

Really am gutted, I'll never be able to use any of these names :(

Can't remember who said them but, Atticus and Cassias are great names :)

squoosh don't understand. Rahab was a prostitute in the Old Testament who hid two Israelite spies.

squoosh · 19/01/2015 17:52

It was a joke. Amy Winehouse has a song called Rehab and 'They tried to make me go to rehab but I said, 'No, no, no' is the first line.

LarrytheCucumber · 19/01/2015 17:59

Clara.

I have loved it since I was a child. DH hates it.

Acacia. I can't bring myself to suggest it, but it sounds beautiful even if it does mean thorny tree!

LOL both my name and my OH's name are on these lists, which is partly why DS has a very classic, simple, timeless name...

Shhhhhhhh · 19/01/2015 19:34

Not that I don't love most of these names too, I even love my own name now... but I remember hating it and the preconceptions that came with the name when I was a teenager. Funny thing is, I actually "grew" into my name, became the type of person you might expect to have that name, and I sometimes wonder whether my name "made" me.

spamanderson · 19/01/2015 19:56

Darryl for a girl. I bloomin love it but it just wouldn't work :(

Letmeeatcakecakecake · 19/01/2015 21:32

I don't have any names that I would never use... More that DP has or would veto.

Katarzyna- I think it's a beautiful name for a girl, I think if I had my ultimate girl name choice, this would be it... Despite there being no polish heritage! Hmm maybe I could change my name by deed poll?

Amir- love it, love it's meaning, DP vetoed it as 'I know an Amir and he's a right '

Hector- again, I love it, DP just absolutely hates it

Atlas- was actually a front runner for our DC due in April, until DP stupidly asked his mates opinions (even though he personally loved the name) and allowed them to ruin it for him, thus, us not being able to call a boy Atlas.

RaspberryBeret34 · 19/01/2015 21:38

Coralie and Liberty.
