I heard the most poncey names outside Buckingham Palace on Wednesday, better not mention them in case the parents use mumsnet - and it was loud parenting at it's worse. Every soldier, horse, policeman was described in great detail. Grandma actually said to the boy 'you know your daddy will have dinner with the Colonel of that regiment'. The boy rather let the side down by saying could they go to MacDonalds or Subway for lunch Grin.

I had to move away as they were so irritating.

You can't leave us in ignorance like that, Ragwort!

Bless the kid, hope he got his Happy Meal Grin

We met Constance and Evangeline (I love that name!) in Home Bargains today - we knew their names because mummy was "loud parenting"

"Constance darling, we don't need cup A soup, we need ramen noodles"

"Evangeline - please put the jelly beans down sweetheart, it is not Monday" (I'm guessing they only get their sweet ration on a monday - but who knows)

There's a little girl on the way to school called SAMMEERRRRR.

BioSuisse · 31/08/2014 07:38

DD started her new school year last week. There is a new boy in her class called Zippy. I have no idea where he is from or whether it is his full birth name. Am dying to find out.

Also in London fields OP I've heard some wonderful names, not really unusual for the area,

Astrid
Kato (boy)
Rhubarb (may well have been nn)
Marigold
Albie
Benoit
Horatio
Ptolomy

Love to hear a variety of names, and a child responds no differently to someone called Jack or Horatio.

ACM88 · 31/08/2014 09:43

...not whilst they are young anyway! Children can be horrid as they grow up and listen to their parents

telsa · 31/08/2014 10:50

Inigo, I heard yesterday.

Marcipex · 31/08/2014 16:17

I have a Rhubarb, though we spell it Roobarb.

Bartlebee · 31/08/2014 16:22

Today ds met a girl called Inigo (he said it was indigo but he may have got it wrong) & we met a springer spaniel called Rupert.
