How many boys called Max do you know?

Hello everyone - this is my first ever mumsnet post :)

We're expecting in September and my husband has always loved the name Max (Maximillian in full) if we have a boy. I really like the name but I've always wanted to avoid turning up to nursery/school and there being lots of other children with the same name. How many boys called Max do you know? (babies and up to 3 years-ish?!)

I've seen the popularity ranks online (Max was 18th in 2013) but I'm not sure how that actually translates to how many children of that name you tend to get in a classroom!

Our favourite girls name doesn't make the top 100 :)

I taught a Y7 form with three Maxes. They would be Y11 now.

Three - two in year 3 and one who is 2 years old.

I know 3 but tbh DS has the most popular name from the year he was born yet is the only one in his intake of 30 boys. There are however, 2 Shanes, 3 Conors and 2 Thomas'. These names were way down the lists. I would more focus on your area, is it one that is likely to have lots of Max's?

I know none. Dd would have been one if she were a boy. We used a female M name for her though so cant even use Max this time round! Id have "just" Max but thats just me.

I have one and he is 5, it's definitely getting more popular, but there are more Jacks, Bens and Olivers

Even the number one boys name in 2012 was given to less than 1 percent of the boys born that year. So statistically speaking you would need to put him with 100 boys to stand a chance of bumpinginto another one.I

I know 4 boys called Max, they are all 8-9yo (to be fair I don't know any under 3s any more, there could be hundreds of Max's under 3 or none at all, no idea!) 2 in the same class.

I know loads but they are all aged 13-20.

One aged about 30, one 8, one 5 and one 2.

My son went through a phase of being desperate to be called Max. It seems to have worn off now.

I do like the name but I know too many to consider using it myself.

I've only ever known of one who will be about 5 now.

I like it, especially Maximus.

I have a Max and I know one other person with a Max. Both aged 2. So not many compared with the masses of Alfies and Harrys around here.

I know two in yr5 & one in year 1.

My DS, he's a Maximus, and he's 18mo.

Hundreds (not literally) but none in that age group. There are two in ds1's class (y6) and several more further down the school - I'd say at least one per class on average. Which in a single intake school is quite noticeable.

I have to confess when I hear it I kind of inwardly sigh as it's so familiar and just not a name that makes you go 'wow - how interesting' iyswim.

Isabella went the same way which is a shame as it's beautiful. Like having sweets every day, they start to become less exciting.

I only know one and he's 5. He's just Max though, which I prefer.

Not very popular for babies round here at the moment. Lots of little Harrys, Charlies, Jacobs and Oscars.
