Wondering what names would go well with Percy, for a boy. I don't like names that are common and I don't like way out there names. I'm more a old man kind of baby namer... Thanks in advance for suggestions Wink

Wow rereading through this post from so long ago. I never got to use any of these name suggestions as I had a m/c. Hoping for my rainbow soon. Percy is 7 now and desperate for a sibling. We also talk about baby names and he is shocked when I tell him how some people didn't like his name. He says mummy if you would have called me anything else I would change my name to Percy.

We have an Albert (Bertie) and if baby #3 is blue he will probably be Wilfred (Fred). Love a Victorian name and once considered Percy! Ernie is cool, and I like Barnaby too. Good luck choosing!

@Jensfp that's ok :) in these long posts it all gets lost. But the suggestions can keep coming as next baby may be a boy.

I love
Arthur
Rupert
Albert
Henry
Other half isn't keen on anything though 😂

OP I just read this whole thread, didn’t notice the dates as I wanted to say how I love the name Percy too! He sounds super cute. Also the way you responded so calmly to some unnecessary comments was impressive.

Very sorry to read about m.c, hoping for a rainbow baby soon for you

Astonished to see DF’s name, Ernest, coming back. A friend had older brothers named Redvers and Ron, really suited them.
An adult Peter has been known as Perce for most of his adult life. Conversely a certain Percy, when he became Vice-Chancellor of a university, became Peter.

Names have gone round in hundred year cycles forever. Look at the top names of the 1800s and 1900s - you’ll find the likes of Percy and Nancy etc.

Our kids will be saying “love the names Steve, Linda & Barbara, you don’t hear those very often do you?”

So if you find the name ‘too old’ you’re probably just too old to hear them as distant romanticised names from the past Grin give it 10 years & it’ll be Agnes & Sylvia

Bumblebeesmum · 08/05/2019 10:04

I’m so sorry I didn’t see your update. I have an almost 7 year old James & when he hears that people think it’s boring he says “BORING? NO. Obviously I have the best name in the world & that’s why so many people choose it!” Grin

Hope Percy gets his sibling soon - big age gaps are really lovely.

Love Percy. I went with a very old fashioned girl's name 23 years ago. Unfortunately it is now very popular, thanks to a famous person using it a few years ago.
