Going on from the boy thread. I'm 14 weeks so don't know what I'm having yet but I have the feeling its a girl. Only problem is we have a boys list a mile long but only some ok girls names.

I love Teddy, Tyger, Wolf, Fox, Dexter etc for boys but can't seem to find any names like this for girls. Any ideas?

I loved
India
Bronte
Harper (pre beckhams as dd is almost 8)
But h vetoed them all. Also had Darcie, freja, grace but she has a very traditional name one that everyone will have heard and probably know one.

We have the same name taste. I had a huge boys list. A very small girls name despite constant searching. We had a girl and Called her Antigone, nickname Tiggy and her middle name is Tiger. There is some incest in the name Antigone, but there is with most ancient greek names, it didn't put me off!

Other names on my list were Juno, Theodora (love Teddy and Theo and Tess and Tady option for nicknames) Fern, Cassiopeia (Cassie) Ottilie, Isis, Daphne, Astrid, Runa, Storm, Obelie, Clover, Tyro, Ida, Hesper, Greta, and Saffi.

Chess? Chess is cool. Well maybe it's not, but our Chess is cool. Short for Francesca.

Or you could just call her a nice name and let her be cool or not, depending on what sort of girl she is?

Oh, and please don't call a girl Benedict.

Err maybe i'll call my kid whatever i want. I prefer more unusual names its just the way it is. Not trying to be 'cool'.

I'd feel worse calling my kid Dave, John, Emma or Sally than Benedict.

Benedict is a lovely name. It just happens to be a boy's name.

why does it have to be a boys name?

Because it is. Would you call a boy Mary? Or Annabelle?

I heard of someone called North recently, which I thought was pretty cool. Also like Freya, Malin, and Linnet. I don't think anything ending in 'a' or 'ie' sounds very cool. Pretty yes, but not cool. The coolest names tend to be short (or shortened).

Mary and Annabelle are both really popular female names. Where as other than the popular Benedict I don't know any other people with that name male or female. Could be shortened to Bene which is cute.

I quite like the name Felix for a girl but that seemed to stir up some issues for some people. Funny how people get funny about some words strung together to make a sound.

Didn't Peaches Geldof call her son Phaedra?

Benedict is 370th for boys -0 for girls
Mary 241th for girls -0 for boys.
I forgot to look up Annabelle' but I imagine it's in the top 100.

Benedict is a boy's name.
