Help me find a boys name...

I am going to be really fussy, dismissive for ridiculous reasons and probably sound like an arse on this thread. But I am really stuck. We've had a girls name set for a few months and I am still happy with it. But the boys name.. we keep going off them.

I need help.

I don't want anything common, in both senses of the word.

Our list thus far has been:
Jackson
Deacon
Brodie
Caleb

And I liked them all at first, and now I hate them. I think they sound chavvy. I have a DS with a top 10 name and thankfully he goes by a lesser used NN anyway, but still, I don't want to repeat that. He's one of 4 in his year.

HELP!

ComposHat really?! Your anger at someone else's naming decisions is so bizarre as to be quite funny actually, have a word with yourself please!

My machinations on names were very similar in nature to the OP's, but they went on a lot longer than 18 pages. 8 months of this IIRC. 18 pages is nothing!

If you don't like it, read something else, simple.

"So after some thinking I have decided that I don't give a fuck whether or not the name sounds 'chavvy'. "

I like your style Grin

So, which names are you considering?

Juno77 · 25/01/2014 11:00

Don't know.

Still Jackson. Caleb.

I know exactly how you feel. I have to find a boys name pronto . I want something strong but still fun not serious. :-/ hate old names . I like Ivan , Remi then Luca but people keep putting me off them. So far I'm liking Emmett :-/

Good OP, choose a name you love, not based on mumsnet opinions.

I think Jackson James totally ROCKS as a name!!!

Only got to page 14 before I posted! I think you are overthinking this. You say you are mindful of the child and the name when they are older but then also say certain names are horrid for a baby. Don't forget the baby will grow up! Some names given to babies now are going to sound really odd when said babies are grannies and grandpas!
Also don't worry if you like a name that someone else you know has. A very close friend of mine (who lives a long way from us but we see every year) named her first child after my third, and then her third after my first! She rang to ask if I minded but I don't have the monopoly on the names so why should I? It doesn't cause any problems when we are all together-we just add the surname initial to the name when we want one of them.
Maybe you should have a month or so off and then get back to thinking-you may find you come upon the perfect name when you least expect it!

Caspar

At eight months pregnant I suddenly decided I liked Jackson, possibly Jaxon. But I didn't use it as I had a dd.

notso · 25/01/2014 13:38

I didn't like Jackson at first. I thought it was a bit Disney Channel. However, have since thought about Jackson Pollack and Jackson Brodie and decided I quite like it.

cosikitty · 25/01/2014 15:24

Can't be bothered to trawl through to check if they've already been suggested, but

Brandon?
Tristan?
Grantley?

or how about something like Hawk?

HeeHiles · 25/01/2014 20:25

How about Sonny?

HeeHiles · 25/01/2014 20:25

19 pages of suggestions - is this a record on these threads??

Juno77 · 25/01/2014 21:10

Something like hawk!

I might be in love with you.

So, I'm not sure Hawk is the best, but I like this line of thinking.

Kestrel
Bear
Wolf
Fox........

Peregrine
Sparrow
Robin

Moir?

soontobeslendergirl · 25/01/2014 21:33

Drake?
Sage
Rex

Juno77 · 25/01/2014 22:31

I quite like wolf and fox but I fear DH will laugh at me.

soontobeslendergirl · 25/01/2014 22:36

Wolfgang?
Wilfred?
Foxley?
Huxley?

soontobeslendergirl · 25/01/2014 22:37

I was quite liking Drake. :)

Juno77 · 25/01/2014 22:49

Wolfgang
Wilfred
Foxley

All awful IMO.

Huxley is a cool name but reminds me of Huxley pig.
Drake is a rapper.

Juno77 · 25/01/2014 23:14

The thing is, I wish you were naming a baby that is here so we will all know soon what you have picked but your due date is AGES away!
