Not coming up with names with agree on, and Persephone is a hard name to top!

So far we've got Serafina (altho not liking the nn of Sera/Sarah) and Anastasia.

Any other suggestions welcome

Aphrodite (nn Affy?).

I actually really like Seraphina and think it goes well with Persephone.

SoftSheen · 12/08/2013 20:50

Also love the thought of a little baby called Britannia Grin

ExitPursuedByABear · 12/08/2013 20:52

Oh yes. The potty. Have fun!

NapaCab · 12/08/2013 21:00

In my head, Persephone and Demeter are always linked because I first encountered those two names when reading the myth and thought they both sounded lovely. So go with Demeter, OP, and you can call her Demi for short!

yourcruisedirector · 12/08/2013 21:03

Peace out ladies Thanks

Loooove so many of these names, but then I get bogged down in the associated myths or modern adaptations and feel I can't use them. I have a Shakespearean name for DD which we love but I may be a bit braver next time and go classical. Hardly anyone knows the background anyway Grin

OP I think perhaps a shorter name for your next DD might be nice, as two four-plus syllable names might sound a bit much. Thea is lovely; Helen, and there are loads of lovely names above.

I do like Andromache, Calliope and Cressida though Smile

Do you like anything new from the thread OP?

yourcruisedirector · 12/08/2013 21:09

Cleopatra's sisters were:

Arsinoe
Berenice
And her daughter was Cleopatra Selene.

I always imagine the nn 'Arsi' for the first one Wink

NationMcKinley · 12/08/2013 21:17

Isis is lovely. I also love Honor. If you wanted to step away from the classics, then what about Jemima?

gettingtogrips · 12/08/2013 21:47

Came on here to say Jemima. Think it goes really well

Pandora or Cassandra

Nyla · 12/08/2013 22:25

I meant to say earlier, now I know the correct pronunciation or Persephone I think its one of the prettiest names I've ever heard. (I'm not v good at spelling etc and was thinking it was pronounced like telephone.lol)

Another names that's popped into my head is Anais x

bonbonpixie · 12/08/2013 23:57

OP it's a lovely name. It's classic but unusual. I understand the difficulty you must be having to come up with another equally beautiful name. I knew a family growing up, they had three children. Octavia, Ariadne and Jo... Just Jo.
As for the rest of the rubbish on this thread, well surely any word can be insulting. In your context Hayley the posh quip seemed insulting. Just as using the term peasant. But then I believe it was used to insult you....
I think you are entitled to an opinion but my goodness people say it once and move on!! How bloody boring, sniping back and forwards. Move on and stop spoiling this lovely naming thread.

Oriunda · 13/08/2013 07:13

I love Isis! If Persephone hadn't been accepted by my DH (if DS had been DD) then my next name would have been Ophelia. If that was still a no, then Aurelia would have been next. I have also always loved Circe but has since been ruined by Game of Thrones and I also know pronounciation would have be an issue!

SmallOrangeGiraffe · 13/08/2013 10:59

Thanks again guys! I do have a son with a two syllable name, just wanted the girls to have 4 to match. Can't use Jemima as that name is already in the family.

We do like Seraphena, but as our DD nn is Sephie, think they sound so similar (my DH has trouble with our names as it is lol!), even if her nn is Fifi (Sephie & FiFi - think his brain would explode!)

Still leaning towards Anastasia - but just don't like that she may get called Stacey when she's older. I like Circee (never seen/read game of thrones, but think that would be too obvious). Have given all the other suggestions to my husband, again nothing we agree on - I'm quite liking Pandora at the mo too!

If it were up to me would call her Beatrix - love that name, but husband has veteod that one!

I really appreciate all your suggestions Thanks, again doesn't have to be from Greek mythology or any other connection. Will keep working on DH, see if he'll change his thoughts on all the other suggestions Grin

I'm late to the thread, but I adore the name Persephone - I found it first in the Malorie Blackman books like someone up thread, and I love Seraphina as well :)

I realise I'm not helping at all, but I have stored a lot of these names for future use Grin

Oriunda · 13/08/2013 12:43

Anastasia is lovely. If it helps, I would never think of shortening it to Stacey ..... More likely Ana/Anna.

aufaniae · 13/08/2013 12:54

Anastasia is lovely (we considered it also!) but are you aware it's the name of the main character in the (undeservedly IMO) popular 50 Shades?

There will probably be a rise in them (2012 stats are out, would be interesting to see if there was) and are you comfortable with people thinking that she's named after appallingly written 50 Shades?

MissBetseyTrotwood · 13/08/2013 12:58

Phoebe I think would go well.

You can pass down all the P stuff then too.

Bowlersarm · 13/08/2013 13:06

Cecelia? Araminta? Arabella? Have they been mentioned.

OP - am very Shocked that Hayley had the atrocious manners to be rude about your already named daughter. How very very rude of her. (She or her old Etonion DH Wink should know better)

Persephone is a great name.

Rooners · 13/08/2013 13:17

Oh there are some lovely, lovely names on here. I hope you find something suitable.

One name I can't stand is Hayley, actually. That's quite ironic isn't it. Smile

But that's not on the list so that's Ok.

fanjodisfunction · 13/08/2013 13:30

Karensa

EldritchCleavage · 13/08/2013 13:35

MissBetseyTrotwood · 13/08/2013 13:46
