From another site discussing the most unusual names, I found this gem:

I thought I picked unusual names for my kids lol
Riley (9), Logan (5), Kai (3) and Jorji-Mae (16weeks)
To be fair my eldest two are the only ones in their school
Some people go too far when picking names for their children xx

She calls her child Jorji-Mae and thinks some people go to far.

Well yes, Pot Kettle hun.

With trepidation I offer John Jack that I heard yesterday, two lovely names but together as one? Wouldnt that make it Jack Jack or John John?

SoupDragon · 07/06/2013 17:08

Can't you keep your sneering over there.

Well, no. Mostly because I'm not sneering over there.

usualsuspect · 07/06/2013 17:16

I believe this is a thread about a thread on Netmums.

MN does name snobbery well enough without bringing Netmums into it.

KaleyX · 07/06/2013 17:21

Gotham Delilah Ice
Thyotaizia
Blaze Victoria Tess
Pystol Alyzabeth Fierce
Storm Thunder Ulysses

Surely these can't be real names?!
Thyotaizia sounds like a nasty disease, why would someone do this to their child?

ladymia · 07/06/2013 18:00

Well OP I suppose at least the mother of little Jorgi-mae knows the correct use of to vs. too ;)

ToTiredToBeWitty · 07/06/2013 20:28

I win because my daughter isn't called Jorgi-mae

Totiredtobewitty, transporting a thread from one forum to another with the specific intention to mock it, that has to be the trashiest thing I've seen online in a while. So well done, Flowers you win the shabby behaviour award.

BoffinMum · 07/06/2013 21:38

A former pupil of mine was called Rimelle.
I struggled to keep a straight face, I always thought of rimming.

FunnysInLaJardin · 07/06/2013 21:57

flips the bird at usual. See you on the drunk thread sucker

fuckingscabies · 07/06/2013 21:58

Shouldn't it be TooTiredToBeFunny? Or is that the funny bit?

ladymia · 07/06/2013 22:08

Scabies the OP seems a serial offender, further on in the thread:

"I reserve the right to sneer when she writes thatother people go to far."

ToTiredToBeWitty · 07/06/2013 22:09

Thanks

Dear me.

ToTiredToBeWitty · 07/06/2013 22:11

Are your children called stupid names?

Is that why you are so offended?

Wink

Who? Mine?

I suppose that depends on your judgment.

ladymia · 07/06/2013 22:13

Nah I've struck it lucky with a top 100 but not top 10 name. I'm pretty much a child naming God!

TheMagicKeyCanFuckOff · 07/06/2013 22:38

How is Jorji-Mae not more unusual compared to Hepzibah for example? Yes, the spelling is a bit strange, but it's a pretty name imho (and I love Riley and Kai) but ultimately they aren't, apart from Jorji-Mae, that weird or out there. I know a Kaemi-Lei but she doesn't have trouble with that and she likes her name and that's all that matters I guess.

ZenOfPetals · 07/06/2013 22:54

Just this morning, I was thinking "Lark would be a lovely name." I used to read a blog written by a mother who named her DD Larkspur. She homeschools. I think if a parent homeschools, they can be more daring with their DCs names, as their peers would not get as much chance to laugh at their (birdie) names

ExitPursuedByABear · 07/06/2013 23:00

No one laughs at Robin. My brother has a maid called Aquila, which means eagle I believe.

ZenOfPetals · 07/06/2013 23:04

Yes, you are right, no one laughs at Robin. Even Wren I think would not be considered funny.

TheFantasticFixit · 07/06/2013 23:06

Tootired - i get you. And yes, MN has become insanely populated by pearl clutchers recently, does my head right in

Christabel3 · 07/06/2013 23:12

Tootiredtobewitty it depends what you think is stupid. Maybe. Hmm Are you the judge?
