Ooh, exciting, I wonder how many babies were given the same name as DD!

LynetteScavo · 05/08/2012 13:54

Last week on holiday, every other boy seemed to have the same name as DS2. Hmm

It was way, way down the table 9 years ago. I'm wondering if it's hit the top ten.

BedHog · 05/08/2012 14:02

What names do you think will have shot up the tables?

There seem to be lots of Kittys, and quite a few Elliots, Oscars, Noahs, Jakes. Far more unusual names about too.

5madthings · 05/08/2012 14:06

will be interesting to see if my dd's name has gone up the charts, the year she was born there were less than 30 of them in the whole country, since then i have seen it mentioned a few times on mnet.

my eldest two are Theo and Oscar, they are 12 and 10yrs old and there werent many of them around, but in the under 5 age group there are loads of them!

melliebobs · 05/08/2012 14:06

Can't wait till the stats for dd year comes out. She's 5 month. We were in the park the other day n heard her name being called. Turned round n it was a lil border terrier! Grin

Jac1978 · 05/08/2012 14:07

I know lots of Sophies, it's got to be number one or two!

glittershoes · 05/08/2012 15:13

Oooh I can't wait! DS1 is due on 14th August so I am torn between feeling uncomfortable and wanting him to come NOW and wanting him to hang on until his due date so I can see where his potential names placed last year!

xmasevebundle · 05/08/2012 17:32

I cant wait! I bet ivy, harper, scarlett and grace, sophia are least top 20!

Boys lucas,oscar, and oliver!!

Glad im due xmas eve and can see if my names ive choosen are popular Envy

birdofthenorth · 05/08/2012 20:49

I predict big leaps for Violet, Isla, Iris, Martha, Bella, Seren, Phoebe, and all the hyphenated names ending -Rose and -Mae.

Ava surely no 1 for girls if my local sample is representative!

Boys -big leaps for Arlo, Xavier, Jude, William, Logan, Edward, Henry, George, Sebastian, Noah and Elijah.

Number one -Oliver or Harry?

nearlymumofone · 05/08/2012 20:50

Does anyone have the link to the current stats?

melliebobs · 06/08/2012 08:00

I recon Amelia is gotta be up there for girls. There's ALOT of Amelia's, Amelia grace and Amelia rose knocking around where I live

Ham69 · 06/08/2012 09:18

I'm almost too afraid to look! I know my DS and DD's names will have leapt up the charts,

AWomanCalledHorse · 06/08/2012 15:15

Big leaps for Louie/Louis everyother boy around here is called that (no Lewis's though) or Jenson.

DS is one of the names mentioned in bird's list, hope it's not massively popular.

nearlymumofone · 06/08/2012 19:36

When I was pg last time and checking out names I came across the list of names for that year- not just the top 100 but every single name used (and the amount of people with that name). Along with this I also found links for every year last century- which was great for ideas. BUT I can;t remember the link- anyone got any ideas??

raininginbaltimore · 07/08/2012 09:34

It will be on the same table- all the names. My dd was due on 16th august so I would have had time to check, but she came last week, two weeks early!

melliebobs · 07/08/2012 10:44

What did u call her? Smile

raininginbaltimore · 07/08/2012 13:05

Totally outing myself....

Amber.

Stokey · 07/08/2012 17:57

Pippa will be a big jumper, was in the hundreds in 2010.

jellybeans · 07/08/2012 22:15

I predict Isabelle and Poppy to be big, every other baby seems to be that, Ella or Grace. Boys it has to be Oliver. I also think Darcy will be big. Perhaps Zachary and Harry up a bit too.

ilovemybum · 07/08/2012 23:51

I never have to worry about the statistics as DS's name is NEVER mentioned!

TheDetective · 08/08/2012 01:16

I'm telling you now, the most popular boys name for this year is Jacob!! Literally every other boy is called Jacob!

I'll have to wait til next year to see if I'm right!!

And I'm basing that on the fact I'm a midwife on a postnatal ward. I get to find out all the baby names Grin

Oh, and Noah and Jude have seriously increased in popularity. Gutted as I picked Noah 7 years ago for my next child's name! However it's just exploded in popularity which has put me off :(

ilovemybum · 08/08/2012 02:28

I know of 3 recently born Joshua's

melliebobs · 08/08/2012 12:31

Aww Amber's lovely. Got to say Jacob is popular. My cousins 8 week old is Jacob. And there's 2 at my baby yoga class

We called DD Nancy. Was gutted when a thread came up the other week of a mumsnetter wanting to call dd that but wasnt sure cos her mum hated itGrin

TheDetective · 08/08/2012 21:58

I've had a few Nancy's lately... probably 4/5 this year.

letseatgrandma · 08/08/2012 22:20

I reckon Nancy, Amelia/Amelie/Emelia, Pippa, Ava and Grace will be up there for the girls and maybe Leo, Theo, Harry/Henry, Jacob and Oscar for the boys!
