Bernard, Egbert and Malcolm would be worse for a girl.

There is someone somewhere with a a Riley but spelt Ry-lee

Fimbo · 11/07/2012 23:53

Cara-Louise?

Fimbo · 11/07/2012 23:54

I am afraid I would be inclined to forget and say Tia-Maria.

As the owner of a hyphenated name I bloody hate them. Growing up its a nightmare, done PCs refuse to put a hyphen in, you get people that think the second part of your first name is your surname. You can get nothing with your name on it, I remember crying over getting my name on a jacket thing and the poor woman took pity on me and fashioned me a hyphen then my name wouldn't fit on the back anyway, getting the piss ripped out you and being called X-Y Walton and a hillbilly. Now I get called three names, my full hyphenated one, the first part of my name and my initials.

The second list is better than the original post :)

Prefer Lila to Lily. Bored of hearing of May as a middle name though!

exoticfruits · 12/07/2012 08:07

I wouldn't hyphenate at all.
I dislike them all.
Lily Anne would be my choice - as Lily.

Lexi-jean is unusual. I kind of like it! Jean is my middle name and I've never liked it. But lexi gives it a new lease of life. Lexi sounds like a 1920s cabaret singer in Berlin. Cool.

I don't think there is anything wrong with hyphenated names per se, it's the names themselves that are often the problem. People who love hyphens often have appalling taste.

CheerfulYank · 12/07/2012 22:53

I don't like hyphenated names though I do like some double names (I know of a Louisa Kate, a Jessica Rose and an Anna June, all of whom are called those names, and I think they're nice) but Lexi-Jean is sort of spunky. Alexandra Jean, called Lexi or Lexi-Jean wouldn't be terrible.

I really don't like Tia at all, but if your friend likes it, go for it. :)

fossil97 · 12/07/2012 23:02

no she should be Keziah Leigh Anne and they can nickname her whatever they like.

(only because I think those names are lovely in their own right just don't chop them up)

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 18/07/2012 21:35

Popping back 'cause I met a Rose-Vita today, really rather liked that. German lady in her (I'm guessing) 70's.

newby2 · 19/07/2012 08:16

Oh bless! Horrible to be struck down. If any of those names suit your baby then go for it. I like Jeannie too. I think they would all be fine if she turns out to be a country singer in Nashville though, if Im honest.

shimmy0 · 19/07/2012 08:25

Kizzi sounds like it should be a nickname and I think that no matter what you paired it with she will just get kizzi for short or kiz which is horrible. I've never been a fan of the name lexi at all sorry it just sounds like something that belongs in an episode of Hollyoaks.
