Aaargh, I meant ! It was also a jokey reference to the earlier mentioned twins. Grin

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 08/07/2012 21:02

Calling kids trailer trash is really twatty!

Lily-may is a pretty common name, you might not like it (I don't either) but its hardly going to ruin someone's life.

MrsRhettButler · 08/07/2012 21:04

Mumsy you admited yourself that you mouth wtaf everytime you see her name but yet you are saying how sad it is that everyone judges when hearing her name. Which you do yourself. Why not stop judging?

I HATE mumsnet on threads like these.

Op, you asked for suggestions to give to her, Lila is lovely :)

UnnamedFemaleProtagonist · 08/07/2012 21:11

I went to secondary school with a Kizzy in the 80's. She was the first underage girl I knew who got pregnant. HTH.

MrsRhettButler · 08/07/2012 21:12

Not that I think her choices are that bad, not keen on Jean though and think if she juggles the pairings they could sound nicer. Kizzi jean doesn't go but kizzi may is nice or kizzi leigh

SugarBatty · 08/07/2012 21:12

Suggest khia-rose or tia-rose? The real world is not as snobby as mumsnet and that's where the child will be growing up thank god! Please don't tell her you hate her name choices, its likely she will choose them anyway. She will then know for a fact you hate her childs name. Children end up suiting their names most of the time anyway however strange they seem at first.

JammySplodger · 08/07/2012 21:13

I quite like Lily-May. Not quite so sure about the others in your op, I'm afraid. Will try and think of some more.

SugarBatty · 08/07/2012 21:13

Hmmm I went to school with a sarah who was pregnant at 13. Hth

usualsuspect · 08/07/2012 21:13

I know a Kizzy , shes at university now

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 08/07/2012 21:14

Yes the first girl at my school to get pregnant was called Sarah.

Pretty silly though to think her name had any bearing on it.

SugarBatty · 08/07/2012 21:16

You see, sarah equals teen pregnant slut! Who would have thought?

stretch · 08/07/2012 21:16

Good god. Calling people, and kids, 'trailer trash'! WTF is this site coming to? Time was, people would make a nasty comment (chav/pikey etc) and be rightly rounded on, now lots are agreeing!

OP, tell your friend to name the baby whatever she pleases, just to think about the suitability as she grows, toddler/teen/adult/pensioner.

usualsuspect · 08/07/2012 21:17

I know a Charlotte that got pregnant at 15

usualsuspect · 08/07/2012 21:18

I know, MN has gone to the dogs, calling children trailer trash is never ever acceptable.

MrsRhettButler · 08/07/2012 21:18

The first underaged girl I knew to get pg was called Rachel, what's your point?

A name means NOTHING! Wtf the Kizzie I know is married with three dc and just finishing Uni (I can't remember her course but its a 'clever' one)

stretch · 08/07/2012 21:18

Ahem...enough with the Sarah bashing! Sarah means 'princess' doncha know Wink

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 08/07/2012 21:18

This thread turned horrible pretty quickly.

SugarBatty · 08/07/2012 21:22

Sarah-louise platt. Not only a sarah but with a hyphen too!

VolAuVent · 08/07/2012 21:23

Ruby Mia
Megan Skye
Georgia Lucy
Lauren Amber
Emma Jasmine
Chloe Scarlett
Grace Lydia

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 08/07/2012 21:23

Ah yes! And Gail such a respectable lady. Who'd have thought?

Gail didn't even live in a trailer!

Know your place Gail!

Janoschi · 08/07/2012 21:26

Anything ending in an 'i' instead of a 'y' (Kizzi/Kerri etc) will lead to judgement. Mean but it just will.

My name ends in I. It's an old Welsh one. Never had any judgements, I don;t think.

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 08/07/2012 21:27

Ceri is one.

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 08/07/2012 21:27

Nothing wrong with it. If people judge others on such spurious grounds they must be busy!

Snog · 08/07/2012 21:45

With any hyphenated name many people will make unfavourable assumptions about the child's mother in my opinion.

I like any of these names without the hyphen.

At the end of the day the parents should choose the name though. Hyphenated name will not condemn the child even if it's not especially helpful.

Shakey1500 · 08/07/2012 22:00

Agree, if I had to pick one that wasn't truly truly awful (as in it's "just" awful) it would be Lily-May. But she'll see this thread yes? Hopefully she'll do the sensible thing Grin
