Had our 20 week scan today, not only are we lucky enough to be having a healthy baby, but we also found out will be having a boy. Squeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

We already have a (very ecstatic) 7 year old boy - Oscar.

Names we both like:
Felix
Spike
Max

Names I like:
Caspar
Ptolemy (I know Grin Wink)

Names DH likes:
Stanley
Elvis (I know Confused Hmm)

What else could be add to our list? Our surname begins with an N and is one syllable.

This thread is flipping brilliant! Grin I usually want to use expletives at moments like this but I'm never sure how that would roll on MN (I suspect it'd be fine, but you can never be sure) Thank you indeed!

I feel I must mention, since this new baby is currently being "gifted" with such a beautifully elaborate name, that Oscar himself, does indeed have a BEAUTIFULLY elaborate full name:

Oscar Abraham Zooey mysurname dad'ssurname.

Abraham is his dad's great grandfather, Zooey is from the Salinger novel
Franny and Zooey (luckily, since she's way famous now, I do love Zooey Deschanel, although, her parents DID give her a boy's name).

Well we certainly have food for thought now. I'm pleased at the largely positive reaction to Spike actually. I've always loved it, and met a little boy named Spike the other day at Kew Gardens. I know that it's a dog's name, as is Max (my dad's dog when he was a kid), and Felix of course is a cat's name (my dad's cat when he was a kid Blush), but (bizarrely) I quite like that. I chose Oscar after I met a dog called Oscar whilst out for a walk Hmm

Thank you again women, for the suggestions and the laughs! I just know Oscar would love us to get Dumbledore in there somewhere...

I'm just wondering whether we ought to hyphenate all of these names??

After all, it would be a terrible shame if such wonderful middle names didn't get used on a daily basis.

Actually - have you considered Badger for your boy?

cakeismysaviour · 11/05/2012 23:27

Well, in the meantime we can name my DC2 (although it could be a boy or girl)...
