Pretty, cool & unusual girls' names

We have just found out that our third (and final) attempt at IVF was successful and that we are having a girl. Although I've had years to think of names, I am completely out of inspiration at the moment. Also, we live overseas so are not familiar with the trends in the UK.

I would really appreciate some suggestions. I am looking for a pretty name, but one that is also cool. And not in the Top 100.

Any ideas? Thanks!

And I love the name Fiona (which we don't have in Italy), but - again - I am not sure how it's perceived in the Uk, I like the sound of it!

Laila, Celeste, Elise???

Congratulations!

redrubyshoes · 30/01/2012 14:38

Franca

Fiona is very underused and quite a pretty, classic name I think. I also love Tess.

Francagoestohollywood · 30/01/2012 14:44

Thanks redrubyshoes Smile
I heard it being used only once in all the years I lived in the UK and wondered why it's underused, given that it sounds pretty but not twee to my foreign ears Grin

Congratulations!

Possible names could be: -

Trinity
Daniella
Annika
Anneli
Bonnie
Jenna
Alexia
Simone

I went to school with a Kinga, she moved from Hungary when she was little. I always assumed it was Hungarian.

No ideas from me, also looking for something cool and unusual for a girl.

Gina
Cora

Felicity

Valentina

MalibuStacy · 30/01/2012 15:50

I love, love, love Valentina. Unfortunately, although it sounds beautiful in most accents, it sounds horrid in my DH's Australian accent. Such a shame.

Congratulations :)

I always end up going for very traditional names (my dcs are William and Margaret). I know an Edythea though and I think it is fantastic. Not totally off the wall (Anglo-Saxon, Edythe, Edith etc) but certainly unusual yet pretty and not so different that it invites teasing.

spottyscarf · 30/01/2012 18:18

Polly is underused and cool I think!

Also love Tess (DH vetoed it for us)
Or how about Sadie?

Oh I love Polly too!

Is Tess linked to Therese? (which I love, I have one!)

seren82 · 30/01/2012 22:18

Haf is Welsh for Summer - roughly pronounced as "Hahv". I also love Ramona and Juno...

Vita - I think Vita is cool, pretty and unusual ... and meaning 'life' seems pretty fitting too.
Ines
Iris
Tess
Estelle
Mary - I've known 2 cool and pretty people called this!

Polkadotfanatic · 30/01/2012 22:53

Elowen. It's Cornish and means 'Elm Tree'. I think it's gorgeous, pretty but spunky and certainly not in the top 100.

Congrats to you :) x
