When you were a child/teen what baby name were you going to 'definitely' use for future DC's?

...And did any of you actually use them?

You have to put the rough year too, so we can spot the trends, if any.

Me:

1991 (I was ten) I wanted Kylie and Trystin. Yes spelled like that. And Kylie had a heart above the 'i'. Ahem

1996 (fifteen) I wanted Phoebe Luna (had an interest in astronomy) and Maxwell Jordan.

Still love Phoebe now, the others...not so much!

Early 90's - I had Sheridan picked out for a future daughter. I didn't use it.

When I was little I loved Anna and Virginia (but I was around 5 and named my doll). (late 80ies, btw).
With around 10 I loved Ronia, Lilliana and Emil, I think... (mid 90ies)
With 16 I was convinced (!) that Elena and Viktor were the best names ever.
Later I had a bit of crush on Patricia....

But I didn't grow up in the UK, so this probably won't help you with "trend developement"...
Right now my guilty pleasure name is Blaise, tbh... Blush

1980 Dean Hamilcar ( Hannibal's dad - Latin O level, I say nothing more) about the same time Alana Rose. Curiously, neither of these name combos got through the 'cold light of day' test.

However, when me and my now DH first got 'serious', we did imagine having an earnest, solomn little girl with the name we did call our DD, who did turn out to be both rather earnest and solomn.

When I was about 14 (1980) I had names picked out for a boy and two girls. Richard, Charlotte and Tamsin. I still like all three but never used any of them.

When I was 20 (1986) I was in love with a German speaking man and I gave some thought to names that would work in both languages. So if we'd had children together they might well have been Alexander and Emma. I still like those too!

OneMagnumisneverenough · 26/04/2016 21:51

It was all about Flowers in the Attic for me, so Carrie and Cory for a start..:o

No, I didn't use them.

Sofiria · 28/04/2016 11:49

As a little girl I used to make lists of girls' names - I loved Felicity, after a girl from Malory Towers, and liked feminine -a names like Araminta and Rebecca.

As a teenager, I liked names like Lestat, Morgana, Mircalla and Lucretia because I was that sort of teenager. I still like unusual and mythology-based names, but would not now name a child after a fictional vampire!

everdene · 01/05/2016 22:25

I had SO many picked out, I was the world's most broody child:

At 10, I was desperate to have a girl called Leigh, and my best friend would have a girl called Billie.

I decided aged about 14 that I'd have seven children by the time I was 21 Confused including two sets of twins. I'm now 32 and ttc, but I am giggling at what my DPs would have said back then had I stuck with that plan!

Anyway...
My eldest child would be 'Lucy-Clir Saoirse Aida Annie', known as Shea Grin
Other children would be Echo, Ciella (like French for sky, natch!), Alexis (boy) and Paddy. I also decided my sister should have boy/girl twins called Issa and Emmanuel. I'm a terrible imaginary teen mum as I can't remember any of the other would-be children's names.

I loved Isis then for years, and wanted Anna Isis. Thank the stars above that didn't happen!

GingerLDN · 15/07/2016 02:23

Annalise like in Neighbours, early 90s thought it was very glamorous.

Liz09 · 15/07/2016 05:49

I insisted for a long time that I was going to name my daughter London or Jenny, and my son Eamon.

Eamon is still fine but I don't like it.

London is beyond words. Awful. Jenny is just outdated and I have no idea what I was thinking.

Liz09 · 15/07/2016 05:52

everdene I know a little Ciella! Her sister is Soleil. So awful haha.

Arborea · 15/07/2016 08:14

Late 80s, Esme Honor. I haven't used it, and doubt I will!

pointlessperson · 15/07/2016 08:19

Aged 16 Teagan and William James

Still love the name Teagan but told my friend when she was pregnant and lo and behold she has a Teagan!!

ILoveFudge · 15/07/2016 08:45

1996 / 12 Years old.
I wanted 4, 2 of each Jessica, Janet, James and John! Blush Haven't and won't be using any

cheapandcheerful · 15/07/2016 08:54

I wanted a Chloe.

I now have a Cleo and am permanently correcting people who call her Chloe by mistake. Sigh.

100paperclips · 15/07/2016 08:57

When I was very small, aged under 5, I wanted a Sonnez les matines- as in, the third line of Frere Jacques.

Probably won't use it...

Raines100 · 15/07/2016 10:25

When I was v young I used to make up names. I remember when Asha and Brickelle when I was about 7 Confused

At 14, my children were going to be: Raina (nothing to do with my mn handle) and Megan (pronounced the American way May-gan) and for boys, Jean-Marc and Coran.

You'll be delighted to know I went with nothing of the sort irl.

2ManySweets · 15/07/2016 10:27

I've always loved Valentine (early 90s).

DC2 due Feb 17 😜

cecinestpasunepipe · 15/07/2016 10:29

Aged 8,I was all set to have triplet boys, Ricky, Dicky and...... Ticky! Luckily, i had two girls now in their late 30s.

NoCapes · 15/07/2016 10:40

When I was a teen in the early 00's my children were absolutely going to be called Jayden & Lloren
You'll all be glad to hear I grew out of that nonsense by the time I had my first child at 19

DD has twin dollies atm and they're called Ginger & Florence, DS's doll is called Gino - future grandchildren names I wonder?

mumof2xox · 15/07/2016 10:44

Oh my goodness

when I was about 9 i had my heart set on the name "Candy-May"

thank god I grew up!

ChipInTheSugar · 15/07/2016 10:45

Late 70s/early 80s I would have named a daughter Chantal Marie (I think it was the name of a boat in one of my mum's trashy holiday novels).

Twins would ALWAYS have matchy names - Charles and Charlotte, Henry and Henrietta etc.

Also Sebastian and Veronica from the Sadlers Wells book series.

MarthaElf · 15/07/2016 10:49

Aiden and Simon here. Late 80s dolls names. I had girls but might have used Aiden as a middle name.

Vixxfacee · 15/07/2016 10:51

I used to make up lists of sisters called Jade, Leigh can't remember the rest who had 6/7 children each and they were always really young (under 22).

I liked:
Billie, Ellie, Georgia
Brooklyn and Britney
Bethany and Brittany
Jada and Jayden

I must have liked matching names.

onemouseplace · 15/07/2016 10:52

When I was 15/16 I decided that I was definitely going to have 3 boys and they were going to be called Will, Greg and Alex. I have no idea why either.

Didn't use any of those names!
