When you were a child/teen what baby name were you going to 'definitely' use for future DC's?

...And did any of you actually use them?

You have to put the rough year too, so we can spot the trends, if any.

Me:

1991 (I was ten) I wanted Kylie and Trystin. Yes spelled like that. And Kylie had a heart above the 'i'. Ahem

1996 (fifteen) I wanted Phoebe Luna (had an interest in astronomy) and Maxwell Jordan.

Still love Phoebe now, the others...not so much!

I had some interesting name choices as a teenager, including Hecate Morgan Hmm and Kennedy Atlantis Confused but I always wanted Harry for a boy and ended up with my 4 (lovely) girls - Julia Grace, Evelyn Lucy and Isabelle Rose

QueenofQuirkiness · 23/04/2016 22:58

That should say 3 girls...3 is enough Grin

MrsBungle · 23/04/2016 23:00

Around 1993 I was definitely calling my girl Renee and my boy Perry. I did not use those names.

Lightattheend · 23/04/2016 23:03

1970's, Bridget and Georgina. Two sister and I thought they has the most sophisticated names. Didn't use either in the end.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 23/04/2016 23:08

Liesl. As in The Sound of music. Grin

NuggetofPurestGreen · 23/04/2016 23:08

And possibly also Keren.

BikeRunSki · 23/04/2016 23:09

Samuel, yes.

Most of 90s I wanted to call my children John and Jemma

After watching The notebook I wanted to call my son Noah

Didn't use any of them.

This is a very zombie thread Confused

I had Molly picked out since my mum took me to see Ghost when I was 15, and stuck with it. Ironically I don't like the name now.
She's only ever referred to as Mol. She hates getting called Molly.
Never really had a name for a boy.

Eveninties · 23/04/2016 23:22

Early nineties, about 14, I was adamant that my children would be called Sapphire and Andromeda! Hmm

GunShotResidue · 23/04/2016 23:41

Jamie-Rose for a girl when I was about 12. I told my mum and she was horrified and said she was glad I wouldn't have children for a while! I wouldn't use a double barreled name now.

Sophronia · 24/04/2016 00:10

When I was 8 or so I liked Ashley for a girl, and Erryn ? for a boy.

In my teens I had a Greek mythology phase and liked Ariadne or Calliope for a girl and Zacchaeus or Corydon for a boy.

I don't have any DC yet but none of these names will be on the list Grin

When I was a teenager I loved the movie The Lost Boys and the girl in it was called Star. I thought it was such a cool name and I would definitely name my daughter that if I had one. Well I had two and neither of them are called Star although when I was having dd2 dd1 suggested Star as a name but I wasn't brave enough to use it. I have now since realised there are lots of lovely names that mean star but we didn't use any of them either.

I also liked the name Kelsey as I had heard it in a tv programme but I didn't use that one either, I still like it though.

I didn't have any boy names as I was going to have girls and I did.

Linnet · 24/04/2016 00:37

Sophronia, Calliope was a name that I had on my list for dd1 but everyone laughed at me and I lost my nerve. Still think it's a pretty name though. Our dd2 has a greek name but a different one.

itfcbabe · 24/04/2016 06:32

Early 90's I wanted 4 girls
Ruby, Amber, Saffron and Jade

Had my 1st child in 96 but was a boy and never used any of the names

I do still really like them but Ruby and Jade have got to common now

DerelictMyBalls · 24/04/2016 10:40

Scarlett for a girl, Bowie for a boy. Blush This would have been around 1990 when GWTW was my favourite book and I first started to love David Bowie!

I'm so glad I wasn't a teenage mum - not least because both those names are frightful!

NuggetofPurestGreen · 24/04/2016 11:39

Linnet I know a girl called Starr and always say 'Star, Star's good, I like Star' to her Grin

LarrytheCucumber · 25/04/2016 21:13

Julie and Karen, because I was only going to have girls. I ended up with two boys and a girl and none of them are called either of those names.

DerelictMyBalls · 26/04/2016 10:44

Corydon

Shock
LarrytheCucumber · 26/04/2016 11:01

I read that as Croydon, and thought I had wandered into one of those 'Place of conception' threads!

MelB1992 · 26/04/2016 11:43

Between the ages of 3 and 8 (early 90s-2000) I was going to call my children Thumbelina and Gaston

Funnily enough, Thumbelina hasn't made it onto the short list for DD due in July!

weegiemum · 26/04/2016 11:44

From primary school (left in 1982) I wanted Katherine, and I used it in 2000.

Enb76 · 26/04/2016 11:44

I chose the name in 1991 and used it.
