When you were a child/teen what baby name were you going to 'definitely' use for future DC's?

...And did any of you actually use them?

You have to put the rough year too, so we can spot the trends, if any.

Me:

1991 (I was ten) I wanted Kylie and Trystin. Yes spelled like that. And Kylie had a heart above the 'i'. Ahem

1996 (fifteen) I wanted Phoebe Luna (had an interest in astronomy) and Maxwell Jordan.

Still love Phoebe now, the others...not so much!

When I was about 15 (1993) i was going to have all girl sextuplets called Evangeline, Beatrice (House of Elliott influence), Jessica, Tessa, Roberta and Harriet. Surprising i didn't have all girl sextuplets. No Dd as yet but would consider all names except roberta .

NightLark · 12/10/2011 09:11

Luke for a boy, after a character in a book by Diana Wynn Jones ('Eight days of Luke'). Would have been about 12-13. Didn't use it.

Oh I am so pleased I started this post - some brilliant answers... keep em coming, girls! :) Having a right old giggle here!

originalnutcracker, I'm Lauren and my sister is Chloe!

From the age of about 9 (1995 onwards) I was convinced I'd call my first son Oliver, middle name probably Frederick, after my dad and both grandads. Gone off Oliver in the last year or so as it's got so popular, but DS is named Frederick!

margerykemp · 12/10/2011 10:06

One of my dcs is named after a popstar!

Colliecollie · 12/10/2011 10:20

Arraminta, Minty for short - anyone watch Moondial? Grin

ScrambledSmegs · 12/10/2011 10:29

I fell in love with a name on a popular BBC period drama when I was about 15, and now have a DD with the same name. What can I say, I had impeccable taste :). Luckily everyone so far has said they love it too so I'm probably not a deluded twat.

ScrambledSmegs · 12/10/2011 10:29

God yes Collie, I loved Moondial! Really wasn't sure about Araminta though, even then.

BonnieWeeJeannieMcCall · 12/10/2011 10:57

I had lots of girls names planned, all from books. Particular favourites were Clover (What Katy did- aged 10ish) Simone (Chalet School - aged 12ish) Alisaundre (?? aged 14ish) Natasha (War and Peace- aged 16) and some other European names from the Chalet school. Didn't use any of them. DD has a "classic" name.

DS has the name I've loved since I was little.

notso · 12/10/2011 11:12

Twin boys Levi Jaime and Carlton Robert then a year later I would have twin girls Harley Leigh and Bailey Rae. They were going to be dressed in head to toe Kappa as well, classy!

When I was a little less Vicky Pollard I loved the name Phoebe but I only read it and thought it was pronounced Foebe Blush.
When I realised how it was pronounced I wasn't so keen!

The only name I have considered from the list is Robert.

Dontbugmemalone · 12/10/2011 11:17

When I was about 11, I think, I only thought of a couple of girls names.

I wanted Imogen or Morgan, not idea of the reasoning. From about 14, I swore that I wouldn't have kids, how life has changed :)

I now have a lovely DS named the second name I wanted, I've only just remembered that I liked his name all those years ago :)

Dontbugmemalone · 12/10/2011 11:17

Also liked Charlie for a girl.

FromMilanToMinsk · 12/10/2011 11:28

1988 - Keeley. Thought it was the most beautiful girl's name in the world.

Certainly didn't use it or anything like it for my DD.

chrisrobin · 12/10/2011 11:36

At the age of 6 (1985) I wanted to use Francesca for a girl. I have 2 DSs so never used it. My DS1 (almost 6) is going through the same thing now and swears his son will be called Noah.

Goldenbrown1981 · 12/10/2011 11:38

when I was a teenager a boy was always going to be Andrew, I still love the name but don't think I would use it now as it has been tarnished by people who have that name.

When I was 18 a girl was going to be Lysette, which I still quite like but would not use as it reminds me too much of an ex who i now can't stand. (he also wanted to name boys Louis and lestatt after Interview with a vampire, but that's a whole different story!)

ellesabe · 12/10/2011 11:52

I wanted a Mark, named after my first kiss Hmm and Elliot after the boy on ET.

TheGoddessBlossom · 12/10/2011 14:51

Dayna Hmm

William and Belinda - untl by BF pointed out they would be called Willy and Belly.

FireAndRain · 12/10/2011 15:26

I can only remember my girls name - Atlanta Blush I was 13/14 at the time (1993).
And it was because Tony from East17 called his daughter that, ha ha. I was put off about a year later when I came across a woman shouting it out at baggage reclaim when I was on holiday; I can still hear her now ATTA-LAN-TAAAAAAAAAHHH come 'ere! Grin

MamaLazarou · 12/10/2011 15:35

Bowie - boy or girl.

oohlaalaa · 12/10/2011 16:01

I always liked:

Isabel (it was more unusual as a teenager)
Eva (Evita was my favourite musical)
Elizabeth (then I worked with a Lizzie I did not like, which ruined the name)

Nathaniel (still think its a gorgeous name, but DH has a close friend with this name)
Matthew (would still use it for a second son)

oohlaalaa · 12/10/2011 16:04

Never put year. I'd say the names are from about 1998, which would make me 15.

tutu100 · 12/10/2011 16:06

My XP wanted to call our first daughter Callibra after the car. This was c1997. Luckily we split before we had kids.

chocoBOO · 12/10/2011 16:10

Ruby Edith and Kieran Matthew.

Only Edith made it through the years. I still love Ruby (it's my Grandma's name, as is Edith) but it's way too popular at the mo for my taste.

FearfulYank · 12/10/2011 19:20

Oooh and for awhile I loved Madison and Kennedy. Urgh! Especially together, wtf was I thinking? I would have been about thirteen, so 1995.

And when I was going through my retro phase I wanted to have a boy named Lennon.

mathanxiety · 12/10/2011 19:33

Nooka -- a friend and I had a whole notebook each with a set of future twins on each page (26 in all going through the alphabet) complete with matching outfits and It was our hobby for about 6 weeks one summer.

I always loved Keziah and Annabel for girls, and Cillian and Rossa for boys (70s teen)
When I was much younger and starting Irish in school I thought Bricfeasta and Aoine (tr. 'breakfast' and 'friday') were the most gorgeous sounding names ever.

Do boys do this at all do you think?
