When you were a child/teen what baby name were you going to 'definitely' use for future DC's?

...And did any of you actually use them?

You have to put the rough year too, so we can spot the trends, if any.

Me:

1991 (I was ten) I wanted Kylie and Trystin. Yes spelled like that. And Kylie had a heart above the 'i'. Ahem

1996 (fifteen) I wanted Phoebe Luna (had an interest in astronomy) and Maxwell Jordan.

Still love Phoebe now, the others...not so much!

c1990 Gayle and Christian - didn't use either in RL

crispface · 11/10/2011 20:47

Summer for a girl and River (phoenix) for a boy. No way would I use either now!! Grin

SecretNutellaFix · 11/10/2011 20:49

Sophie and Joshua.

Wouldn't use them now though. Nothing wrong with the names, just a bit too used.

BikeRunSki · 11/10/2011 20:50

Samuel, I did.

Littlefish · 11/10/2011 20:54

When I was about 16 (1983), I was determined I was going to call my two daughters India and Scarlett.

DedalusDigglesPocketWatch · 11/10/2011 20:56

1994 I was 10, my sis and I had a huge row about who was going to call their daughter Tiffany. Decided I would get that privilege as I am the oldest and would have children first :o

Jezabelle · 11/10/2011 21:03

1987 Amy, (still think this is a pretty name but got no where near to using it!) Loved Christopher aka Chris. Thought it was SOOO cool! Seems so dated now!

Now off to read rest of thread.

hester · 11/10/2011 21:04
  1. Jacob and Lily. The rest of the world got there first.
GlaikitFizzogOnaNeepyLantern · 11/10/2011 21:08

BirdoftheNorth Bailey was one of mine too! Loved Party of Five. And going on the theme Neeve!

boys were
Ruairdhi
Fraser
Ramsey (don't ask :o)

Girls
Phoebe (there was a series of books for teenagers with a set of sisters Cassie was one of the others C1993)
Freya (1998, I discovered the auther Freya North around then)
Liberty (c1995)
Georgia
And I always had fantasies about being called Tallulah myself (musical theatre brat with a love of Bugsy Malone :o)

Ruairdhi and Fraser were both on the short list for DS, but we went with another rather Scottish name! Phoebe was my pick had he been a girl!

SardineJam · 11/10/2011 21:11

I loved the name Nicholas for as long as I can remember, it is now DS1's name

FlipFantasia · 11/10/2011 21:14

Kirstie PSML at the Lisa Scott-Lee/Nathan from Brother Beyond connection Grin. MN teaches me something new again Grin

workshy · 11/10/2011 21:15

I liked Tiegan and Finn (Home and Away, late 80s/early 90s)

and

Bronwyn or Marnie (character and actress in Neighbours)

mollycuddles · 11/10/2011 21:17

I was going to have a ds called Jamie. I have a James so close enough. I was going to use my birth surname as his middle name and I did. I was going to have 4 boys and hadn't decided on the other 3 names. I've has two dds instead.

Kirstle · 11/10/2011 21:27

Bronwyn and Finlay - what blasts from the past - I remember loving Natalie Imbruglia's character (was that Neighbours or H&A??)- Beth and thinking that was a really ''cool'' girls name... :)

When I was a girl I had a holly hobby doll (some of you may be old enough to remember these). I named her Laura after a character in litttle house on the prairie. I swore I would use this name for my first DD but husband didn't like it. We didn't use his favourite name at the time either, he wanted her to be called trinity.

whatever117 · 11/10/2011 22:14

OMG - I remember at 15 drunkenly fighting with a (random) taxi driver (who I didn't even shag) over whether I should call my imaginary future daughter Tracey or Julie (like, WHAT!). I eventually settled on the "sophisticated" alternative of "Katrina Suzette".

Thank Fuck I had sons - and not even by a random taxi driver.

Dear me.

whatever117 · 11/10/2011 22:17

There are just so many things wrong with the above post - why wasn't I in a children's home - LOL

purplebridgett · 11/10/2011 22:22

When I was 15 or so (circa 1998) I liked names that I now feel are quite chavvy, like Donna, Nicola and Ashleigh.

MelinaM · 11/10/2011 23:56

Anoushka ...not yetWink Jasmine was anotherHmm I find it utterly hideous now!

As for boys I can only really remember Hadleigh! ...in my defence it was my friends exceptionally handsome twin brother's moniker

...oohhh Bailey and Rafferty are ringing bells too!!!

HengshanRoad · 12/10/2011 04:34

I wanted Oquit and Kailash for boys (aged 16). I heard that Kailash was the name of a holy mountain, and I think I made Oquit up.

For a girl, I liked Miranda. And still do! Would definitely use that for future DD. DS will NOT be Oquit or Kailash...

notevenamousie · 12/10/2011 04:40

I had a friend called Laura who died of leukaemia in the 80s and I was going to use that. I didn't - though it made the top 5 shortlist, and I do still like it.

FearfulYank · 12/10/2011 04:41

I used to love the name Bram, short for Abraham. Hmm

Caitlyn for a girl for the longest time, and yes pronounced Kate-lynn. River Elizabeth, also for a girl. Hmm

When I was in my late teens I loved, loved, loved Ella and Aidan.

FearfulYank · 12/10/2011 04:42

Obviously River Elizabeth would be for a girl.

Oh and Baylor for a boy after reading Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood.

nooka · 12/10/2011 04:42

When I was little I was going to have 11 children (no husband though) the youngest of who was called Zachariah. A little bit later my cousin and I would spend hours designing our very large twin filled families. The twins all had lots of freckles and matching names. I seem to remember Edward and Frederick featuring quite a bit Grin
