Girls:

Berengaria. I have always loved that name.
Andromeda
Cassopeia
Oenone
Artemisia
Elektra
(actually I love most classical greek names)
Hepzibah
Bathsheba
Calpurnia (I love the euphony of the name, not the meaning)

Inigo (actually, if I have a boy I will call him that, surname is Jones so will be marvellous
Percival
Lysander
Magnus

I'd LOVE to call a boy Lsyander. Or Leander actually.

The thing is, I think I probably would actually dare do it Smile

I think all your suggestions for a girl are beautiful and I would absolutely use them (esp Bathsheba). Inigo is gorgeous too for a boy.

There you go. I obviously have ludicrous taste too.

GitAwfMayLend · 01/05/2011 12:34

Ha! Perhaps we are not ludicrous then, but just have good taste.

I have told DP about Inigo. He likes it actually. Mind you his absolute favourite boy name is Ra. Egyptian god of sun, apparently.

We are evidently loons well suited

I used to have a flatmate called Rahul who was universally known as Ra, which I loved. I think I liked that it wasn't actually his official name though. Find it SLIGHTLY weird as a 'proper' name, although I like it.

SueSylvesterforPM · 01/05/2011 12:45

Rahul is cool

I remember as called Odin

and Diego

LittleWhiteWolf · 01/05/2011 12:46

Artemis
Hero

I love all your boys names OP!

GitAwfMayLend · 01/05/2011 12:49

Rahul - that's a great name.

Hero is wonderful but besmirched by Myleene.

I love the names Farah and Fariyah as well, but DP's ex is a Fariyah so that is a no no for the fantasy baby.

Can you tell I did Classical Civilisation at college and am pretentious?

Though DD3 is a shortened version of no.2 name and DD1 is Adam's first wife so my level of ludicrous is slightly lower than most normal peoples Wink

Missred · 01/05/2011 17:07

Candida

Percival
Merlin

evamummy · 01/05/2011 17:50

What lovely names! Most of them aren't 'absolutely ludicrous' but very elegant and classical.

goodegg · 01/05/2011 17:55

Star - DH's childhood dog
Fiorimonde - as in the fabled princess

Love Scheherezade too.

TeamLemon · 01/05/2011 17:56

Diggory and Obediah are top ludicrous boys names IMO

TabithaTwitchet · 01/05/2011 18:38

Cymbeline Blush. But as a girl's name, so it would look both ludicrous and ignorant.

BornAgainDomesticGoddess · 01/05/2011 18:45

Absolutely love the name Fatima. Always have. She was a character in a very old St Trinian's movie and I thought the name was so exotic. Would love to use it, alas it would sound ludicrous on a pale skinned, non-Muslim child.

Maternelle · 01/05/2011 20:28

Wolf
Elefteria (freedom in greek) (I have no greek roots).

CandyS · 01/05/2011 22:40

I've always loved the name Virginia (but it's a no as I guess girl would get teased when she's older for it).

DH has vetoed Mercutio & Cosmo (for a boy) & Rosaline, Zita & Ziva (hebrew for radiance) for girls.
