Girls:

Berengaria. I have always loved that name.
Andromeda
Cassopeia
Oenone
Artemisia
Elektra
(actually I love most classical greek names)
Hepzibah
Bathsheba
Calpurnia (I love the euphony of the name, not the meaning)

Inigo (actually, if I have a boy I will call him that, surname is Jones so will be marvellous
Percival
Lysander
Magnus

My DS's second name is Wolf in breton. I wish I had been brave enough to use it as his first name.

mopsyflopsy · 02/05/2011 21:01

I'm loving most names on here - much nicer than on most threads imo Smile.

ChateauRouge · 02/05/2011 21:10

Blimey Getorf- I actually know an Ankaret- I assumed it was spelled 'Anchorette' Blush

Bumper- I love Aurelia and Ondine too... I take it MrBumper said 'no'?
Wouldn't Twm be pronounced 'tomb' though? Kind of puts me off...

Sarcophagaiea anyone? Grin

PelvicFloorsOfSteel · 02/05/2011 21:30

DS1's first and middle name have been mentioned more than once on this thread - I still love them and they really suit him! Grin

A name I love the sound of but could never use because of the connotations is Judas, DP vetoed Jude and Jonas which was as close as I'd dare to go. Such a shame, one little betrayal of Christ and the name is tarnished forever...

GatOwfMarLaaaandInnitBabe · 02/05/2011 21:32

Wow at someone called Ankaret - I read an obscure baby name book which said it was seldom used since the 15th century.

ChateauRouge · 02/05/2011 23:02

She is mid-50s, so definitely not from 15thC Wink

meadowlarks · 03/05/2011 01:28

I am proud to say my DS1 will be Gilbert Bartholomew James -. Ludicrously tasty.

Here are some of my more memorable choices vetoed by DP:
Augustus/Augustine
Constant
Lemuel
Alban
Cuthbert
Yorick (Alas...)
Bartolomeo
Wenceslas
Celio (Male form of Celia, pronounced CHAY-lee-o)
Stanislaus
Thor

belgo · 03/05/2011 06:36

I know a Yorick and a Thor.

aStarInStrangeways · 03/05/2011 08:50

I was at school with an Alban and a Titus.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 03/05/2011 09:10

Oh, I love so many of these names!

thecatatemygymsuit · 03/05/2011 22:05

I love Clover, Sebastian, Benoit/Benedict, Wolfgang, Margot and Clementine.
No rhyme nor reason, I just love those names!
A friend recently had a baby called Sapphire which I think is impossibly glamorous, in a 1930's way. Lovely.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 04/05/2011 10:19

I don't think any of those are ludicrous, Clover.

Then again I think my opinions on this thread demonstrates that my ludicrousness threshold is pretty high. Smile

Particularly love Wolfgang from your list. Would you shorten it to Wolf or Wolfie?

thecatatemygymsuit · 04/05/2011 11:22

Actually I concede - those are just some of my favourite names. Wolf probably (thinking of a Noel Streatfield character). Did you mean me btw? Smile

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 04/05/2011 11:24

Oops, yes, I did!

Wolf is lovely. Clementine also, although I wonder what people would shorten it to.

freesias · 04/05/2011 11:42

bellatrix sounds pretty and 2 sweet nns but harry potter means i just couldn't

thefirstMrsDeVere · 04/05/2011 11:46

I would love twins called Balthazar and Bathsheba

That would be brilliant

GetOrfMoiCase · 04/05/2011 11:49

Wolfgang. That wins the prize.

For twins:

Bartolomeo and Bathsheba
Eleuthera and Elektra
Hephaestus and Hepzibah
Inigo and Iphigenia

I thought of a lovely name this morning, another classical greek one, Clytemnestra. Shame it sounds a bit like clitoris. [gtin]

GetOrfMoiCase · 04/05/2011 11:50

I knew a pair of twins called Sharona and Shania. Ludicrous in a chav way.

thefirstMrsDeVere · 04/05/2011 11:53

Getorf dont you start wiv de chav bisnizz - i iz cing u soon. Wink

thefirstMrsDeVere · 04/05/2011 11:56

Ariel was fab until Disney Hmm
Atticus ( my dog's name because I thought I wasnt having anymore babies)
Sparkle - bloody brilliant!
My DC5 was going to be Tallulah Honey Butterfly Bo if he had been a she.

GetOrfMoiCase · 04/05/2011 12:13

I is a chav myself innit

GetOrfMoiCase · 04/05/2011 12:14

Ariel is a brilliant name, IMAGINE if you had a baby in the eraly 90s and names it Ariel after the fairy in the Tempest. And then that film came out and everyone thought you named your baby after the mermaid instead.

thefirstMrsDeVere · 04/05/2011 12:17

or the washing powder...

U iz a chav is it?
We will c innit
We will c....

GetOrfMoiCase · 04/05/2011 12:25

Deffo chav.

My idea of the perfect christmas is buying everything in the Argos catalogue, and 8 tonnes of sweets.

Ha! at talking about christmas in April

GetOrfMoiCase · 04/05/2011 12:25

Or fucking May Blush
