DD2 is a few days old, and people are constantly asking for a name, as it took me almost 6 weeks to name ds. Had a name chosen, but not sure it suits her now, was going with Elizabeth nn Betsy.
Everyone thinks im being silly saying she'll grow into her name, but changed dd1 name by deed poll as her name never fitted.
She looks like a Matilda to me, but am worried how popular it is, esp in trendy areas of london.
How popular are these names? and which do you prefer? Want her named by saturday so I can stop avoiding the phone, lol
Mylist is -
Betsy
Matilda
Martha
Jemima
Kitty (not cathrine!)

Love Betsy, love Kitty. If we have another dd she will be a kitty.

Bettyspencer · 14/03/2011 14:34

I know one of each apart from Betsy; I don't know children called that.

storm1974 · 15/05/2016 08:21

How popular are these names out of interest? Jemima and Kitty...

EmmaWoodlouse · 15/05/2016 19:00

Betsy - none

Matilda - one aged about 13 and a Polish Matylda who's about 8.

Martha - no kids, one young woman in her 20s

Jemima - none

Kitty - one, she'd be 11 or 12 now.

ZOMBIE

It might be worth stating a new thread, storm1974 rather than re-animating a zombie thread which keeps talks of how many girls people knew with those names five years ago

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 15/05/2016 19:06

Betsy 0
Matilda 1nn Tilly
Martha 0
Jemima 0
Kitty 1

champagneplanet · 15/05/2016 19:07

North West, there's 1 Matilda in DD's class, that's it. She's 5, they are all Isla, Lexie, Lydia and Maisie's.

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 15/05/2016 19:07

Ah fuck
Zombie!
This is like being rick-rolled
Is it a thing now?

Smooshface · 15/05/2016 19:09

I know 2 Matilda's, a betsy and a kitty

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 15/05/2016 19:09

Betsy 0
Matilda 3
Martha 2
Jemima 0
Kitty 2

AuntieStella · 15/05/2016 19:09

Yes I've seen a few other ZOMBIE THREADS today.

I was wondering if it was because we might have new posters (following publicity) who are used to sites where it's a faux pas to start a thread on a subject where one already exists, and they haven't yet realised it's the total opposite here.

Smooshface · 15/05/2016 19:11

Haha sorry zombie! 5 years ago it was just 2 Matilda's for me ;)

BikeRunSki · 15/05/2016 19:27

Betsy 1
Matilda 1, but have met 2 or 3 more
Martha 1
Jemima 1
Kitty 1

RueDeWakening · 15/05/2016 19:31

Betsy - 1

Martha - 1
Jemima - 1 (Tilly's sister!)
Kitty - 0

Ilovewillow · 15/05/2016 19:38

1 Jemima
1 Kitty
0 the rest although my mum call my daughter Matilda (it's not her name but she reminds my mum of the film)!

They are all lovely!

Panicmode1 · 15/05/2016 19:41

I have a Matilda, there was a Kitty in my antenatal group and my NDN's daughter is Martha. The only Betsy I'm aware of is Ian Duncan Smith's wife...(I'm in the SE).

StarUtopia · 15/05/2016 19:46

Betsy - 0
Matilda - 3
Martha - 1
Jemima - 0
Kitty (not cathrine!) - 0

I would name her Elizabeth though on her BC if you go with Betsy. If the girl wants to be a top notch whatever later on in life, she'll thank you for a 'regular' name. I do know 3 Elizabeths though, all under 3.

Micah · 15/05/2016 19:46

About 2 or 3 of all of those. I teach a children's activity which is fairly middle class though.

Betty/betsy/beth/elizabeth/isobel are very common, as is matilda/tilly. I know 3 martha's, one at school, one an old friend, one from nursery. Jemima's about 4 i think, 2 from my acivity, one friend, one at school.

Kitty/caitlyn also popular.

bilule · 15/05/2016 19:51

Betty 0
Matilda 2 (one Mattie, one tilly)
Martha 1
Jemima 2 (both Mima)
Kitty (not cathrine!) 4!!!

Hate betsy it's a silly name. In fact don't really like any of them

ExasperatedAlmostAlways · 15/05/2016 19:52

I know only of one Matilda none of the other names however Matilda I like the most out the list.

WhiskyTangoFoxtrot · 15/05/2016 19:52

ZOMBIE

The child is over 5 by now, and presumably has a name.

ZOMBIE

AdoraKiora · 15/05/2016 19:53

Betsy 1 (she is 7 yrs old, though)
Matilda - 2, both teenagers
Martha - none
Jemima - none
Kitty - one and she is about 90 yrs old Grin

Betsy is definitely my favourite of your choices.
