No interest in my handmade crayon tote bags on Marketplace

Hi everyone,
I'm hoping for a bit of advice from fellow parents. 😊
I've recently started making handmade Disney-themed children's crayon tote bags and have listed them on Facebook Marketplace, but unfortunately I haven't had any enquiries yet.
I'd really appreciate some honest feedback from a parent's point of view. Is there anything that would make you more likely to buy one? Is it the photos, the description, the price, or is it just not something you'd look for on Marketplace?
I genuinely believe the quality and price are good, but I'd love to know what I could improve. I've shared them on a few Strood Facebook groups too, but still haven't had any messages or comments. Similar products seem to sell well in shops like Argos, so I'm wondering what I'm missing.
Any constructive advice would be hugely appreciated.
Thank you, Hels ❤️

How much are you charging and are the bags lined?

Cherrytree86 · 20/07/2026 16:30

It’s a totally unnecessary item that would likely be more hassle than it was worth

AuntieBiotics · 20/07/2026 16:29

Except they would sit down and snap the crayons 😂

Be careful with Disney fabrics - you may be infringing copyright.

Definitely this.

I don't think that price is an issue, I think it's the concept itself.

I'm presuming that the idea is that you put the colouring book or the paper inside the tote bag, but I think that's where they crayons/pens go too? They look like they're going to fall out of where they are, and get lost.

Price might be an issue, OP isn't going to give the price. Odd thread.

Kidsandhouse · 20/07/2026 16:33

Too big for the child, and those pencils will surely fall out easily. It's a no from me...

Eta... there's not enough space for pencils anyway, they'd need more pockets than that

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 20/07/2026 16:33

Too big and most kids either have a smaller bag or pencil case/tin to carry with them. My DB/SIL would only see this as another unnecessary bag they have to carry with them.

Kidsandhouse · 20/07/2026 16:36

Not sure you could do anything go make it more attractive to me. It just seems too unnecessary a product. And I'm not even in ruthless declutter mode...

susiedaisy1912 · 20/07/2026 16:36

Looks totally pointless op. Sorry.

BMW58 · 20/07/2026 16:37

Why would anyone need to walk around with crayons like that as if it was a gun fight to see who was quickest on the draw??😂

When kids draw they are sat down with the kit in front on the table.
When they are transporting stuff it needs to be INSIDE the bag!

Sorry but this concept is daft.

You can buy tote bags really cheaply on Amazon. I was also a car boot sale at the weekend and they had brand new ones really cheaply as well so it's not a really hard to source/ expensive item.
I also don't see the point of the pencils being on the outside. You're very likely to lose them really quickly but maybe as a book bag or drawstring as PE bag / dance/ sport clothes bag .It would get more interest.
I agree marketplace wouldn't be somewhere that I'd look for that sort of item unless it is under the free section. My town has a local buy and sell group though.
What about making them more individualised with names on particularly for kids who've got unusual names and find it difficult to get those kind of things? Maybe give some as gifts get them seen. Do you have a Facebook page where you show off your work? maybe offer 5 for free to the first people tag themselves in exchange for some feedback.

Another pointless post … OP asking for feedback and no further interaction.

And no other posts by the username.

Not read many PPs - can only wonder if they are ''safe'' - as in if child falls over - could pencil go in their eye - or something like that?

I got a free Red Cross tote bag for signing up to them recently.

pimplebum · 20/07/2026 16:44

i would not post your child on line - deep fake porn snd all that

pens would be falling out and if a lid was off it would ho all over their clothes / furniture also bag too big

JoyousWriter · 20/07/2026 16:44

It looks like the pencils will fall out all the time.

Also, no one needs to transport pencils around with them. You sit at a table for drawing.

hourspassed · 20/07/2026 16:45

I agree with pps that anything decent that is handmade is best sold on Etsy - that's where I always go to find handmade gifts and things. Also agree with pps on the Disney TM - you could get into trouble for selling these.

I think the tote bags would be a good idea - it does look cute - but choose fabric that is more generic - dinosaurs, animals etc then you've got no worries about TM issues.

Summer fayres etc are great places to sell these type of things, perhaps a bit late to book any for this year now. I'd be looking to book some stalls perhaps for Christmas if you can.

Seajaye · 20/07/2026 16:45

It's too big. A smaller zipped pencil case in better quality thicker fabric would be better. The price is too high ( about £10-12 tops) is all I would pay for a child's pencil case. Etsy would be a better selling platform or take a stall at a Christmas or back to school local craft market

FrenchBunionSoup · 20/07/2026 16:46

It looks like it's £20 on Facebook

It doesn't look practical to me - it looks like the pens/pencils would be falling out constantly. I'd much rather have a pencil case that I can pull out and put on the table.

BeSharpHelper · 20/07/2026 16:46

When they sit down are they not going to get stabbed in the ribs? Or is the fact the pens will all fall out a safety feature ? Sorry op , looks a bit impractical and just unnecessary. Maybe just cute bags , but def not Disney !!

Iloveeverycat · 20/07/2026 16:47

Don't forget selling on a lot of platforms now like Etsy require a UTR number from the tax office to prove you have registered as self employed.

Ethelspagetti · 20/07/2026 16:49

You cannot sell Disney fabric bags, Disney are copyrighted and will sue. The bag looks too big and the pencils look like they’ll fall out. Also there doesn’t seem to be enough holders for a pack of coloured pencils. I would never buy one.

Viviennemary · 20/07/2026 16:51

The crayons would fall out. If you are skilled at sewing think about items for adults like pin cushions sewing cases needle cases. I've bought one or two of these from etsy. I agree etsy would be better than Facebook marketplace.

Happysummerrain · 20/07/2026 16:51

Because pencil cases already exist, as do tote bags. If a parent wanted a place to store and carry around pencils they would be looking for a pencil case. You should consider what people will be typing into search bars. Also, this is copyright.
