No interest in my handmade crayon tote bags on Marketplace

Hi everyone,
I'm hoping for a bit of advice from fellow parents. 😊
I've recently started making handmade Disney-themed children's crayon tote bags and have listed them on Facebook Marketplace, but unfortunately I haven't had any enquiries yet.
I'd really appreciate some honest feedback from a parent's point of view. Is there anything that would make you more likely to buy one? Is it the photos, the description, the price, or is it just not something you'd look for on Marketplace?
I genuinely believe the quality and price are good, but I'd love to know what I could improve. I've shared them on a few Strood Facebook groups too, but still haven't had any messages or comments. Similar products seem to sell well in shops like Argos, so I'm wondering what I'm missing.
Any constructive advice would be hugely appreciated.

I'm sorry, I appreciate the work in it but it just doesn't look practical. Doesn't look practical or comfy for an adult or child to carry and mine would lose the crayons in 5 mins

The pens look like they will fall out.

The pens will fall out or get stolen; not practical but cute.

Sorry if PP have said this but what if they fall and poke an eye out!!

These tips seem really good. I can see the value and appeal of the external crayon holder, but the long pens/pencils just look like they will fall out. Perhaps the crayon bit could have a fold-down flap to secure it?

A smaller overall bag size (or a larger model - gorgeous though this little girl is!😍) might work better, with the top of a paper pad sticking out to clarify its function.

I don't agree with the comment that it looks badly sewn btw.

Children do like tote bags though.
My daughter prefers longer handles so she can put it over her body (cross body bag style).
She'd get fed up carrying one with handles that short.
Tote bags with zips are my preference so you don't lose stuff.
Maybe a matching pencil case to go inside?
Legally though.....you might get in big trouble using licenced character fabric.

I don't think that price is an issue, I think it's the concept itself.

I'm presuming that the idea is that you put the colouring book or the paper inside the tote bag, but I think that's where they crayons/pens go too? They look like they're going to fall out of where they are, and get lost.

I agree with others that it’s the practicality of the item itself, sorry. If I was out with my child, I’d like their pens and pencils to be zipped up in a pencil case, inside their bag (preferably with a closure).

I would think simple tote bags (that are slightly smaller if the idea is for a child to carry it themselves) might sell better.

There are a number of issues that I can see:

The pens do not seem secure in it, I would expect them to fall out almost instantly
The handle seems flimsy and looks like it could snap particular if the child filled it up with random toys etc.

The bag looks very homemade. The photo used is poor and the printed used does not photograph well (also as someone said be careful with copyright). The child is too small to model the bag. The back door setting looks unprofessional.

Marketplace is probably not somewhere where people would shop for something like this.

Something like pencils cases and plain totes would probably sell better.

Be careful using Disney fabrics. They do keep watch and will prosecute if uou haven't a license.

Are you sure you want to use your child to market this?

Honestly, aside from the Disney issue (they don’t fuck about, they have people employed to find this kind of thing) I don’t think there’s a market for them :( They are a cool make, but I don’t think they will sell.

I’d worry about losing the pencils on the outside, also you’re limited to a specific number of pencils whereas you could easily pop as many as you like in a pencil case and keep them safe inside the bag! I also think the bag looks too big for the child if the idea is for them to carry it themselves.

For handmade, don’t put them on a person, make a flat-lay. Here are some examples:

For children, obviously don’t use makeup and coffee as props. Like everyone else has said, you can’t use Disney legally and the design is impractical. You should be on Etsy, not Facebook. Try making some with children’s names or hobbies / interests on them (eg. dinosaurs, ballet shoes), they’ll do much better!

I’m sorry but I don’t understand why anyone would have a need or want for one of those? Looks like the crayons could easily fall out so what’s the actual purpose? I fear you’re trying to solve a problem that doesn’t exist?

Also, you will definitely have copyright issues with using Disney fabric. I think you need to think of a different product to make.

It’s impractical and doesn’t make sense. If you want to have something where a child can put the pens temporarily whilst drawing an apron with a front pocket would make much more sense. If the idea is that you keep the drawing stuff, pens, paper etc in the bag for storage then the child is just going to take what they need out of the bag and put it on the table and not bother putting it in the fiddly pen holders.

No one is going to walk round with a bag with pens on the outside ready to fall out.

As PP said, pens/pencils on the outside are just going to get lost. Also, in a cafe or something I would want a thing to put the pencils in that can go on the table, otherwise they just roll onto the floor.

I don't know where they'd use it that I wouldn't have a proper bag to put stuff like that in along with everything else I'm carrying? I wouldn't trust DD not to lose it, so it's just something else for me to carry.

Also the problem with Disney, they are really really aggressive for copyright infringement.

You could make a pencil roll, like a jewellery roll?

I don’t want to nitpick but there are no crayons in the photo you shared 🙈. Wouldn’t they mark the outside fabric? I assume the bags are for colouring books, but a built in waterproof pencil case on the inside would make more sense. On the outside, the crayons//pencils/pens with tops off could mark the fabric of the bag or anything the child rubs the bag against. It’s a pretty bag though!

I’m childfree but my first thought was leaky pens staining the fabric, or a kid tripping over and being stabbed by a sharp pencil.
