Cheers jeangenie.
A shout out to all the jewellery bods. As discussed with jeangenie, DH and I are going to a nice posh ball in 3 weeks. I'm going to be wearing a nice black (I know boring) evening dress. It's highnecked with a silver strappy back and my v v v expensive (worn on wedding day only) silver bejewelled very wow strappy shoes (I hope I don't have to walk further than 100 yards!!!). As it is a high neck number I can't wear a necklace, I don't really do earrings, so I'm thinking a nice 'blingy' sparkly bracelet. (you can't not do some jewells at a ball can you?). So the question is do any of you a) either fancy a commision job? Or b) can you recommend a good place to get a bracelet making kit and nice beads? I'm thinking silvers, clear crystal maybe multi strand - I want it quite big, but not chunky (does that make sense) I want to make a statement but still manage delicate and feminine. I love chunky and funky with jeans, but I think with the dress it maybe a bit . . . you know? Ideas welcomed!!!

I have to say chrissnow, what you describe sounds just like the sort of thing dior makes!

I got my sewing machine manual yesterday - yay! So I got a scrap of fabric out and started practising. Oooooh, it's lovely - so much easier and quieter than my old one. I love it already!! For practice I put a bag together for dd2 (I made for dd1 the same, practically the first thing I blogged!), and it was a joy to work with. I am a happy bunny!

chrissnow · 15/05/2008 12:58

Dior - thanks!!this one is the kind of thing I have in mind. Possibly a little 'thicker', more 'cuff' iyswim, but the mix of textures/bead sizes is bang on what I'm after.

chrissnow · 15/05/2008 12:59

Miaou - surely you mean a happy puddy cat?!?!? and yes you're right. Dior was my first thought (no offense to anyone else at all)

Miaou · 15/05/2008 13:09

LOLOL chrissnow - I guess that's right!

OK - I won't be about tonight as I'm at work . Guess who's fed up of their job atm!! I guess I'll have to send you my wrist measurement too. I can't buy bracelets or watches - they fall off (I'm not some twig like waif either?!?) DH bought me a lovely bracelet for our Christmas and we had to take it to a jewellers and have a load of links taken out!!! I still have one part that I intend to put on a charm necklace type thing with important little bits on it. Anyway I digress. Must go check roasted veggies for our tart aren't chargrilled instead of roasted

AH now there's the rub - the ball is 3 weeks Sat (7th June) so I am fully expecting you won't be able to do it in time. If not is there any chance you would sell me the other one? 'tis my own stupid fault I didn't realise how quickly it had come around.

lucykate · 15/05/2008 19:52

that fabric calender is great.

this is the first time i've been on the 'pooter all day - that is a grand achievment for me!! i have been machine sewing and embroidering for my doll swap.So far so good too

Miaou · 15/05/2008 22:01

Oh that calendar is fab! I left a comment. Hmm, another idea to add to the pile...!

(nearly finished crocheting the dress for my doll swap doll. Then got to do shoes, and embellishments ... argh, nearly finished )

Whizzz · 15/05/2008 22:17

Hi all - I have missed loads on here! Doh
I have however made a bracelet but not taken a pic yet - will get it sorted tomorrow.

Tillyboo · 15/05/2008 22:17

Love the Calendar, what a unique idea.

Yay ... I have now got my new (draft) logo on my blog now.
I'm really chuffed with it. It's taken from my applique tree and the brief was 'Pure & Simple, White Background'.

I think it's been captured exactly to match my brief. What do you think ?
I can now start to organise some business cards etc.

I'll feel all 'professional now'

back from Mini trip to Paris (arrived wed morning and flew back thurs evening) , 3 mums and 3 four year olds... over all very good little children that walked everywhere and are apparently planning thier next trip with or with out assorted mums. I will blog about it later and also post a give away as it will be my 200th post!... and need to catch up on everything thats been going on on everyones blogs

I'm frozen and my bathroom now has tiled just need the shower putting up and paint and new flooring...

chrissnow · 16/05/2008 09:15

Vive l'enfant!! (or something ). Sorry French not my expertise. Glad you had a lovely time. ooooh giveaway.
Have put a picture of the necklace from lovely DH on my profile.
Am feeling ill today . Seems the crafting circle is a bit jinxed with ill health at the mo. I went to work last night on my way there I thought my neck felt a bit sore. By the end of the night (which they let me leave 40 mins early from) My neck was as stiff and sore as anything and I had a horrid headache. Still feel cp now. Am doing bad mommy. As much Cbeebies, chocolate, biscuits etc as it takes to keep the little ones happy and quiet!! Being on the computer is probably not going to do my headache any good, but the alternatives - sewing/knitting/reading/tv etc aren't any better. I actually can't do any housework as it hurts too much bending around. DH is cooking tonight and generally going to take care of me (I give it 30 mins before I get bored though!!)
Off to reply to Dior's email now...

meridian · 16/05/2008 09:58

chris- sorry you feel poorly, my back and legs are aching from carrying a back pack for two days and dragging DS around Paris.

I didn't really buy much though jsut a few biscuits and chocolates, but am planning the next trip, I could kick myself becuse I wanted to buy a cheap second hand hard back book in french to tear apart to do more of these art pages I'm
currently obsessed with, but it was too heavy to carry for 2 days and we never walked past another used book stall... bummer... oh well will just have to plan next trip

I did look around a button shop in Montmatre though.... (clears throat loudly in Vintage's direction... and walked past some fab fabric shops too...if only I could sew... next trip definitly going on the weekend so I can go to one of the flea markets!
