And here's yet another thread. Blimey we can chat!!!! I've been in London the past couple of days, looking forward to catching up on everything....

OP posts:
Miaou · 16/05/2008 11:34

Good on you for getting a mention Dior!! I need to spend some time getting my blog "out there" a bit more I think.

I have got my friend coming round this afternoon to discuss my website, and I still don't really know what I want - eek! I've got some basic ideas but that's all. Need to do some research fast I think.

What is it with us lot and dentists? I have been at the dentist this morning for a filling, so now I have one side of my face numb (including my nose and my eye, very uncomfortable!)

Miaou · 16/05/2008 11:35

Chrissnow last night I re-read that comment you left on my blog after a night out and was chuckling to myself - you lush

chrissnow · 16/05/2008 11:37

Oh Miaou sounds horrid. I had to be sedated for my last dental visit. Can't remember evevn coming home!!! DH had to look after me for a whole day/evening. At least I have no memory of pain. I started the blog hopping thing and am getting comments from people other than you lot, which is nice (not that your comments aren't appreciated of course!!)

chrissnow · 16/05/2008 11:38

You're my besht friend ever.

dizzyday07 · 16/05/2008 11:55

Can I have a bit of knitting advice?

As the crotcheted blanket I was going to make for my sis is still as it was months ago - and the baby is due in 4 weeks - I thought I'd do something else

I saw this really cute hat in Crafts Beautiful and I've downloaded the pattern.

BUT AARRGGHH!! its knitted in the round

a) I've never done this before
b) I don't have any circular pins

As it just says cast on so many sts, then knit so many rows etc, can I feasibly do it flat and then sew it so there's a seam running up the back?

Miaou · 16/05/2008 11:58

Well I've done that before dizzy with no ill effects - just read through the instructions and make sure you know how your decreases work

Miaou · 16/05/2008 11:59

chrissnow

you can laugh at me if you like, I look like I'm drunk atm, what with droopy face and slurring words - first thing I will say to my mate when she comes, "no I've not been at the wine, only the dentists!"

chrissnow · 16/05/2008 12:05

ooh dizzy let me know how it goes. I'll have a go too!! I've never knitted in the round and don't have circular pins either . Bit that hat needs an attempt at least. How cute.

I wish I could Knit but I have tried and failed quite miserably. Oh well, obviously I was never meant to knit.
If there was ever a category for I knitted modern art I might be in with a shout - could just submit a big blob of knotted wool and needles

Still, I have started a new project and I've blogged it
Hopefully I'll finish it later today but I just needed a break from it. Does anyone else feel really tired lately ? is there something in the wind ?

chrissnow · 16/05/2008 16:02

Dior - have replied to your e-mail. How exciting!!! Also been looking at blogland today. There are some fantastic things out there . Mind you for every good site there are some damned bizarre ones

chrissnow · 16/05/2008 16:06

Have commented Tilly.

Whizzz · 16/05/2008 18:37

Here's my latest Fringe Bracelet it took a while but it was fun to make

lucykate · 16/05/2008 18:50

whizzz, thats really pretty, i love the lampwork necklace and the square amethyst bracelet too

Nbg · 16/05/2008 19:37

Meri, I've commented on your giveaway.
It would have been rude not to
Glad you enoyed your trip to Paris.
Bit of a jet setter arent you!

Whizzz, I'm loving loads of jewellery atm.
Theres loads of necklaces I like.

Tilly, I love your new logo/header. Its brilliant.
Did you do it yourself?

Dizzy, that hat is absolutely gorgeous. So so sweet.

Miaou, why don't you do a giveaway or a swap to get your blog a bit more noticed?
I have noticed a bit more traffic on my blog since I've organised the doll swap and that was never my intention.

Chrissnow hope your feeling better soon.
Have you got flu?

I am still washing and putting clothes away so I haven't had chance to touch my doll, although I am going to do that after I post this.

I have a little query. Maybe LK, GM or Tilly can help?
I'm making another doll for dd's friends birthday. A fairy princess one to be exact, so I have to make wings.
Now how do I make them?
My original thoughts were thick card and then cover it with felt, but then how do I attach them to the doll?
Or am I just better in having floppy wings and tucking them into a seam at the back of the dolls body?

nbg, easiest way to make fairy wings is just use netting. cut a large circle and gather in a line down the middle to make it into a figure of '8', and sew onto the back. from the front, they look like
this

lucykate · 16/05/2008 19:55

sorry, posted too soon, sew them on and to hide the stitching you can either add a button or a felt flower in the centre

chrissnow · 16/05/2008 20:02

Very pretty bracelet whizz.
No not flu - given that I am able to move (even if it does hurt). i don't really feel unwell other than the headache and neck stiffness. A little wobbly if I stand for a long time, but I've seen the day through so it's not serious. DH has done the chilli to end all chilli and poured me a lovely glass of wine (ok be prepared for the random postings again )
Fairy wings - I have done (pre MN and photos I'm afraid.) A thick silver material and stuffed it and attached inseam. It all depends whether you want them floaty a la lucykates or a bit more solid.

Dior - I have faith. It will be a masterpiece.

chrissnow · 16/05/2008 20:29

Ok. I hate my chatname (well not hate, but it's not right). I used to love my original one, but I went into hiding. Very unlike me, I am not easily intimidated, but I got involved in a thread which I was totally pulled apart on. Do I go back to my original? In a proper dilemma here. Don't want to slink back now the 'coast is clear' and said thread is dead and gone.

Nbg · 16/05/2008 20:31

LK, that looks spot on and easy enough. I like the idea of a button on the back too.
Chris, like your idea too. Go steady on that wine missus

Nbg · 16/05/2008 20:32

Go on, tell us what it was.

ranting · 16/05/2008 20:38

Just checking in, have finished GMs owl but due to hectic week (and now got hectic weekend on the cards) won't get it posted until monday (must blog it), sorry Gm.
