And here's yet another thread. Blimey we can chat!!!! I've been in London the past couple of days, looking forward to catching up on everything....

OP posts:
meridian · 12/05/2008 11:55

have blogged The Poison Apple Tree a painting, and a black and white bracelet too!

lovely earrings Dior! will leave a comment later as I have got to get some jobs done now...

Miaou · 12/05/2008 12:27

Well I finally managed to cut out my jacket last night but sewing machine manual still hasn't arrived so that's as far as I've got ... My crochet book arrived though - yay! So will hopfully finish my doll dress (am now on version two, still a little unsure but will keep going to the bitter end now!)

Meri, sympathies, ds1 had a temper tantrum in the supermarket on Friday and dh as good as told me it must be my fault for not parenting him properly - I was really upset and hurt by that

I was at playgroup this morning and there are real problems with the new committee not working well; I had a lot of pressure on me to stand as chair in March and am getting pressure again now to step in and sort it out but I just can't commit the time to it! So feel a bit guilty leaving my mate to sort it all herself, particularly as she has four kids and is a childminder as well. Ho hum.

Got loads of jobs to do (housework etc) this afternoon and no inclination to do it ... better bite the bullet and get on with it I guess!

vInTaGeVioLeT · 12/05/2008 14:50

meri and miaou - sympathies on the tantrums and tears - my dp said something similar to me yesterday - that if i hadn't said this or that ds wouldn't have had a paddy i told dp to f@k off {because i am very* mature don't blame you for steering clear of committees cause if they get you for one thing they'll grab you for another too!!!!

meridian · 12/05/2008 15:09

Thanks Miaou and Vintage, I have just spent a few hours at the shop with Frizbe, I brought iced coffees so she bought lunch and we had a good natter about anoying DHs and bratty children. Off to Paris on wed morning, for two days one night, me and 2 girlfriends and the kids...DS will be ok at waking up at 430 not so sure about frizbe's DD though.

lucykate · 12/05/2008 16:30

i pinched a chewy sweet from dd and have broken a back tooth in half. looks like its the dentist for me tomorrow

meridian · 12/05/2008 19:40

oh LK thats awful hope its not too painful but i'm sure it will be.. hugs... a couple of years ago we were helping my dad move some boxes into the attic over the garage and a box slipped out of DH's hands and hit my dad rigth in the mouth and broke off two teeth...

ranting · 12/05/2008 19:45

Ouch LK, is that your 3, do you think?

GM Kitkat arrived today!! Thank you, got home from work to find the pirate cat glued to dds side, dh says she's not let it go since she opened it, she's chuffed to bit with it, thank you. Will get owl in the post as soon as I can manage to get out of the office (stuck there full time this week).

lucykate · 12/05/2008 20:50

ranting, i hope so!

on closer inspection, it looks like it's mainly filling that has gone, it was a large filling as the tooth has already broken once before, what tooth is left does not look in very good condition though. i don't have very strong teeth, they are always breaking, in fact every time i've been pg, the first sign is a tooth breaking (and before you ask, no, i'm most def not pg!!)

oh LK you have my utmost sympathy - my teeth are terribly weak too. I'm sporting a broken front tooth at the moment which really needs attention. I'd love strong teeth...

I went to the hairdresser on Sunday and he appears to have shorn my nice little bob into a short crop while I wasn't looking. He left a couple of long bits. Good thing I really like him (and DH really likes my hair) or I'd have gotten a bit cross. Still, is only hair, it will grow back and its lovely and cool for summer

I've blogged more pics of my english patchwork thingy here along with a fair amount of rambling it must be said
I have finished my lucy locket mini quilt but won't show pics until my partner receives it
I am working on a secret quilt for friday

hope you are all enjoying the last days of sunshine

vInTaGeVioLeT · 13/05/2008 08:41

now that last post is exactly why i hate going to the haidresser - i often cry afterwards - i know it's only hair but it's mine - which is why i have really boring long un-dyed hair! i got brave last week and asked for long layers and i hate it now. moan moan grumble.

chrissnow · 13/05/2008 08:45

Ranting - a big mention in your blog!!!
Dior & Meri have left comments for you both. (am chuffed that I managed to work out how to do it - even though it showed up how dim I really am).
Some gorgeous things on here again.
I have done stuff all crafting, went to my moms in the deepest darkest Staffordshire so was without internet. Did take my knitting projects to moms to show her. She was really impressed (which is saying something so I'm chuffed with that. Weather has been just too nice to sit inside with craft stuff and I've been at work nearly every night. Still I have washed and dried nearly everything in the house whilst we've got the weather for it. I really have been taking full advantage of the sun. I am soooo brown!! DH is all loved up with me (god does this mean I've got to fake tan or sunbed in winter?!? ) Mom barely recognised me. I've never been able to sunbathe before.... years as a goth (shun the sun) too many years working as a temp with noooo holiday then 2 years heavily pg in the height of summer - too unbearable to be out. Then last year our garden was a building site so we couldn't let the kids out . but this year, sandpit, trampoline, lawn, veg patch. 'tis brill. They are so happy and I'm left free to sit on a deckchair with a book or knitting and slowly cook. BLISS.
Following the i-pod gift story, DH has done it again. Over the weekend we went to a lovely garden centre with a lovely little collection of shops. I spied a fab turqoise necklace. I then took the kids with my mom to the little model train which we had a ride on. DH feigned disinterest and legged it back to the shop and bought the necklace, his it in the car and secreted it away in a bag for when we got home . he then asked me too fetch 'something' and there it was. He is such a diamond. I really love that man . Funnily enough I'd sneaked into a card shop and bought a card I'd spied saying "where there is love there is laughter" with a funny picture on the front. I borrowed a pen of the shopkeeper and wrote it out and gave it to DH just as we were riding off on the little train!!! Aren't we just a soppy pair.
Right I have rambled on too much. . . . . will post picture of necklace later (need to find camera or phone . . . )

chrissnow · 13/05/2008 10:13

One of our fish has died. We only got them on Sunday. Have got to keep the kids away until daddy gets home from work with a replacement. . . . Silly, but I was quite choked up.

jeangenie · 13/05/2008 10:58

chrisnow your husband sounds fab - can we clone him?

VV - my hair is hilarious. It's very funny though as I am part of a "dinner circle" grand term we use jokingly about 6 or 7 of us who meet regularly at each others houses for dinner and lots of wine about once every two months. The rest of them all joke that I have a new hairstyle at every gettogether...and guess what is on on Saturday night next? Dinner Circle! so at least I won't let them down...I have gone from waist length hair to a super short crop (with a few dangly bits) in just over a year. The nice thing abou this hairdo is that I can get away with wearing different things with it - I went out yesterday lunchtime and bought a really retro vintagey style dress with loads of ruffles down the front, which I could never have worn with longer hair as I would have felt too gussied up, but with my new super-butch do, I seem to be able to carry it off. Well DH seemed to think so anyway. ANd I bought the most fabulous shoes from French Connection too, very very high and very very gorgeous. I was obviously on a mission yesterday to get some feminine stuff in to make up for the unexpected lack of hair. Whereas normally I slob about in jeans! So change can be a good thing I guess

wow, that was a ramble - sorry folks

lucykate · 13/05/2008 11:15

all this talk of dress and shoe shopping!, sometimes i really miss working, well, having some money of my own to spend really. pre kids, when we lived in bolton, i used to finish work on a friday at 1.30 and drive straight to the trafford centre, spend the afternoon shopping, then meet up for tea in one of the restaurants, haven't done anything like that for years.

Funnily enough me and DH joked about this on Sat night. After mom had put the kids to bed she offered us a rare night out together so off we popped to the local. . . Only to receive a phone call 30 mins later from mom telling us to pop to Asda on the way home as both kids managed to wake up and get through 2 nappies each (I had planned on a morning nappy shopping trip - on a normal day we would have got away with it). As Asda closes at 10 we wouldn't have had time to order another drink (well we could have necked them, but that wasn't the point in going out. We wanted a leisurly couple). As we walked home DH said
"Do you remember how Sat nights used to be us walking home at 3am clutching a kebab and staggering about giggling. Now we're walking home at 9.45 clutching a box of pampers and a tube of foot cream (I so cannot wear flat ballet pumps - owwwww)"!!

champs · 13/05/2008 17:38

Dingle · 13/05/2008 18:10

Dingle lurks back in again for a short while. Time and life just keeps getting in the way, my mum got back out of hospital yesterday, I am now up to date with DDs hospital and school appoinments for a few weeks but severly lagging behind with my NVQ work. Saying that I have got another job possibility lined up...my current LSA job ends in July as the little boy I support starts school. I was planninng to go back in September as a volunteer just to complete my NVQ but fingers crossed I will be lucky enough to get this paid position.

After an awful weekend with mum in hospital and a MRSA scare, I gave myself some very self indulgent time yesterday and made a couple of 6x6 scrapbook layouts to go into hubby's 40th birthday album..LOL..well at least it will have 2 pages in it!

Crafting ..just for the fun of it was just SO what I needed!

lucykate · 13/05/2008 18:14

dingle, that giraffe is amazing!

tooth is ok, dentists have no electricity due to roadworks nearby cutting through cables, so have to ring tomorrow. the sharp bits on the tooth were scratching my tongue and hurting so i'm afraid i did something drastic (don't read further if you are squeamish!) and used a nail file . horrid, i know, but it worked!

Dingle · 13/05/2008 18:25

LK....the thought alone has given me all goosebumps...cringe!!!
