I don't 'do' cooking but I did make this yesterday.

It's a beautiful day today so today I will be 'mostly gardening'.

Have a lovely day all

VV since about Christmas I think - but nobody is counting really - we eat a lot of salad, stirfries, pasta that sort of thing and I NEVER bake

we were just saying last night we must think about getting a new one (not sure why - oh yes I remember, to make roast chicken in the winter) so that's good, we should have one within the year

oops, just remembered DD1's bday coming up and the one occasion on which I do bake is to make her birthday cake - she wants a snail castle this year...mmmmmmmmmm

meridian · 22/05/2008 10:23

tilly- lovely cushion, I'll leave a comment later as sorting out swim stuff and um i have forgotten..

jg- a snail castle? I didn't know snails lived in castles... good luck... do snails like no bake cheesecake?

vintage- H says he will keep some curls becuse he knows I like them.. thats almost too nice of him, I wonder what he is up to.

posted a new challenge! Cupcakes, Candy and Ice Cream- A Craft Challenge

Quick Q from me

I've decide to make a clutch bag for my Functional Felt Swap

Do you think I need a closing device on it - a magnetic clasp for example?

lucykate · 22/05/2008 19:40

dizzy, the felt bags i've made, i just put a press stud on to close

dizzyday07 · 23/05/2008 00:58

HHEELLPP!! I need opinions

I'm involved with LucyLocket's Mini Quilt swap and as it has to be posted on Saturday I started on it tonight!!

I know, I know - they call me "Last Minute Dot Com" at home - but I can't work until I'm right up against a deadline - it's always been the same. Anyway I digress.

My swap partner said she's into Amish / Civil War type things at present so I thought I'd make here a "Home Sweet Home" hanging - a la Little House on the Prairie.

I've started on half of it which is a pattern called "Schoolhouse" which I've made in a mix of plaids. Picture here

To give an idea of scale its roughly 8" square (the windows are 1" square). I know its a bit wonky in places

The top section will be the home sweet home bit and will be done with a mix of applique and patchwork so the end effect will look like this

Should I be embarrassed to send it? It's my first real patchwork and I'm not having a crisis of confidence - I haven't got any at all!!

mistypeaks · 23/05/2008 07:42

Dizzy of course you shouldn't be embarrassed. a) it looks fine b) I'm not sure the point of the swaps is to 'show off' I think its more (to me) anyway inspiration, motivation, making friends, the thrill of receiving something new and different etc.
Anyway you think thats embarrasing - you should see my toadstool

mistypeaks · 23/05/2008 09:08

Oooh logo done. Have had a bit of a play with my blogta daaaaaaaaaa

meridian · 23/05/2008 10:07

I have made two bracelets this morning... strangely both are pink and green, diffrent shades and stones it wasn't my intention but just turned out that way...most strange , I will attept to take some pictures in a bit as the light is really crap and my first attept didn't go so well...

we are considering putting an offer up on a house after carful maths and such... need to sell ours to one of those house buying for cash companies, the house we would be getting needs quite a bit of woork but its a lovely little close, detatched, drive way... and best of a a 3rd bedroom that would be office/crafts room ... will not let myself get too excited it may not happen but at least we are getting into the frame of mind of moving up a bit...

right off to wade though sea of dirty laundry, scattered beads and cold coffee

lucykate · 23/05/2008 12:53

dizzy, just go for it!

i'm making some of heather bailey's bitty booties today, quite fiddly as i've decided to line them, but look so cute, pink for a newborn baby girl!

meridian · 23/05/2008 13:38

dizzy- I think the little house looks lovely, like LK says just go for it and do it and it will be great...

I have blogged the two bracelets I made this morning! quite pleased with them even though they are decidedly not what I had in mind when I got all my beads out this morning.

Nbg · 23/05/2008 15:26

Dizzy its lovely.
It fits your descriptio perfectly.

Meri, I love the bracelets too.

I've had a bit of d&v today but I think its on its way out now.
I'd like to make a start on the doll for dd's friend and the toadstool.

Just a quickie.

I've just been on freecycle and have put in a wanted post for fabric remenants or any fabric people dont want and I've already had a response from someone.

Thought its a great way of recycling and you never know, I may get my hands on some yummy fabric.

mistypeaks · 23/05/2008 19:21

great idea nbg!!!

meridian · 23/05/2008 19:40

nbg- very good idea! hope you get some lovely fabric

Miaou · 23/05/2008 19:56

What a good idea NBG! I got some fabulous fabric from my local fabric store which they were chucking out - great for bags and suchlike.

Charity shops are also good for a rummage (in the curtain section )

ranting · 23/05/2008 20:04

Oh one of our local charity shops is fabric heaven, huge piles of offcuts to delve into. It's a textile junkies heaven!!

Nbg · 23/05/2008 20:31

Well even better news is that shes got back to me and said that she actually collects fabrics!!!! and they're taking over her house

Sending dh to go and get them tomorrow!!!!

ranting · 23/05/2008 20:32

I have fabric envy!!!
